Before anything else, Natasha showed up to pick everyone up and transport them back to the helicarrier. As they arrived back on the helicarrier, Loki was handed over to a troop of armed guards to escort him to his special cell as the others returned to the main room to reassess the situation.
"That was a dangerous prank you pulled there, Oakley," Natasha scolded her under her breath as they trailed behind the other special agents.
Lillith flinched slightly, she adored Natasha as if she was family but also feared to anger the red-haired assassin. "I'm sorry, but if I didn't go down there Loki could have escaped..."
"And he could also have killed you while you were down there," Natasha continued, her eyebrows forming one line across her eyes. "You have no idea what you're up against."
"None of us does, Nat..." The brunette shook her head with a soft sigh, "But what was the point of you bringing me along if I'm not allowed to help out? You know there is very little that can harm me, believe me, I've tried."
The red-haired opened her mouth with a sharp inhale, stopping herself before finishing what she wanted to say as she stared at the younger woman. As much as she didn't want to admit it, there was truth to her words. They had no idea what they were dealing with, that never seemed to stop any of them in the first place. Releasing her breath, she relaxed her posture slightly. "Just promise me you'll follow my orders next time, okay?"
"I promise, Nat."
The group sat down by the table and watched the monitors as Fury was interrogating Loki. The god of mischief wasn't intimidated by the one-eyed agent and saw right through all the bravour. He continued to tease Fury with an eerily bright grin.
"...How desperate are you, that you call on such lost creatures to defend you?"
"How desperate am I?..." Fury approached the glass cage in which Loki had been contained slowly, "...You threaten my world with war, you steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill 'cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did."
Loki watched the man in amusement, his grin only widening as he almost sneered in a sing-song manner. "Ooh. It burns you to have come so close, to have the Tesseract, to have power - unlimited power, and for what?" With his smile still strong, the god turned to face the camera as he was fully aware the two were being watched. "A warm light for all mankind to share?" He turned back to face Fury once more. "And then to be reminded what real power is?"
Fury merely smiled at his threat. "Well, let me know if 'real power' wants a magazine or something." As he walked away from the cage, the footage from inside the cell turned off.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Steve turned to the muscular man who seemed deep in thought and somehow very troubled at that.
"He has an army called the Chitauri." Thor began to explain what he knew.
"Are they those so-called Midgardians?" Lillith wondered, still not sure what Loki had meant when he said she wasn't a Midgardian herself but hadn't had the chance to ask anyone yet.
"No, Midgard is what we call your planet, Earth." Thor shook his head, briefly looking at the younger girl before continuing. "The Chitauri, they're not of Asgard nor any world known. He means to them against your people. They will win him the Earth, in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract."
"An army, from outer space?" Steve frowned, sure he had a lot of catch up on since waking up in the 21st century but he never really pondered the possibility of aliens existing, much less an entire army that would set out to take over the planet.
