I pulled into the parking spot and cursed out loud to myself for it being so crooked. I ended up just shrugging it off, because hey, nobody knows me.

I grabbed my keys out of the ignition and put them into my purse, along with my phone. Luckily for me, it was late out, so there weren't many people to see my tattered sweatpants and sweatshirt with equally underwhelming messy bun.

I walked into the unfamiliar walmart and got a cart, putting my purse in the front part of it. I scanned the aisles, deciding what to buy. I got a couple packages of oreos because there's no way I was going to pass up that sale. I got some ramen cups, subconsciously trying to be that stereotypical broke college student.

I walked down the cereal aisle, swaying my hips to the music playing throughout the store. I walked through the refrigerated aisles, getting some ice cream and premade cookie dough. I hear quiet bickering in the next aisle over, right where I was heading.

I peeked around the corner to see a boy and a girl arguing about something totally unrelated to the frozen dinners they were standing in front of. The girl was undeniably pretty, the boy completely different. I could imagine they were a couple, and throughout my experience of watching romance movies, I knew every relationship has ups and downs. So I just shrugged, and walked past the aisle.

When I returned to the aisle with the fighting couple, hoping they were gone so I wouldn't intrude, I saw the girl standing by herself, on the phone. She angrily pulled it from her ear and put it in her pocket, wiping her tears. Not knowing what to do, I walked down the aisle, leaving my cart at the end. Might as well try to make some friends.

"Hey..." I start awkwardly, not really having the knowledge of how to help a crying girl in the middle of a walmart.

She continued to sob, so I stretched my arm and rubbed her back, hoping to calm her down at least a little bit. She sniffled and wiped her tears, and I could tell she was embarrassed.

"I'm fine," she said with a voice crack, signifying she was about cry, and was definitely NOT fine.

"Do you need a ride home?" I asked, letting her know that I saw her fight.

"How did you know?" she asked in reply, and started sobbing again.

"I may or may not have seen you and him arguing," I told her awkwardly, slightly laughing it off.

Her lips formed into an "O" shape.

"I'm Tori," I said, holding out my hand for her to shake.

"Amber Strotto," she replied, taking my hand. Her phone suddenly rang and she picked up.
"Hello?" she asked into the phone, "no, I told you, we're over. Fuck you. Bye."

I smiled at her and she walked with me back to my shopping cart, my purse left untouched. We walked to the checkout together after I grabbed some candy for us to share in the car, and we left the walmart. I loaded the bags into the back of the car, and took the one with the candy to the front of the car with Amber and I.

We sat down and buckled in, opening the candy, and I put the key into the ignition in order to start the car.
