"(Y/n)? Where are you going? We're just about to have supper, care to join?" Aerith questioned with silently begging eyes.

Vincent eyed your reaction suspiciously.

You blanched.

Dinner

You almost vomited all over the floor because of the first thought that had entered your mind when you heard that word.

A beating heart on a white plate, blood poured all over it with flesh garnished around the edges. You felt sick. Sick to your stomach at the thought of flesh and sick with yourself. How had that been the first thing to enter you mind.

"Vincent? What's going on?" Aerith asked innocently, eyes glancing between the two of you.

'Vincent'? So that was his name. Nice of him to introduce himself to you.

At this 'Vincent' let go of you and stepped back, out of your personal space and walked off with a glare down the corridor, red cape swishing and lapping at his ankles, before he completely disappeared like the shadow he was.

What had just happened? Why had you been able to see beneath his skin, and hear his heartbeat. It had been so strange.

It was as if you had momentarily...

Lost control.

Was this a side effect of not losing your human mind the night before? You shook you head to rid yourself of the thoughts and looked back at Aerith who looked at you tenderly.

"You don't have to eat much if you can't stomach it, but I would really feel better if you would eat even just a little. You need to get some nourishment in you."

With a drawn out sigh, you nodded stiffly and followed her down the stairs into the main room. You wouldn't eat anything, couldn't in fact, not knowing what the outcome would be after eating real, normal, human food. However a glass of water wouldn't hurt, to sooth your parched throat. Or would your body refuse that as well?

This wasn't right. None of it was accurate. There was sunshine, rainbows and smiles.

These people were happy. And as you watched them interact with each other, as if there wasn't an apocalypse going on right outside their door, you felt more and more out of place, like you shouldn't be there.

In the end you didn't end up joining them to eat, instead you currently found yourself sat at one of the booths in the restaurant like bar, twisting your glass of water on its mat, everyone else at the island table eating and drinking. Yes, while in your unconscious state you had been brought to a bar, but this seemed like it was their hang out area, a place of happy memories and get together's. A haven.

Your chest constricted uncomfortably, as if you still had a heart there that beat properly. You felt that this was all you wanted, to be with your friends and family, smiling and laughing, and these people were doing just that. You were currently being tracked and hunted down by the most powerful people in the city, yet you were sat at a table with a happy group of people like everything was fine. You couldn't help but shift around as the whole situation felt wrong to you, as if you shouldn't be there, and your discomfort wasn't overlooked.

A body of heat slid down into the booth next to you, your cold skin hyper aware of the contact. In any other reality, you would have relaxed into the heat and enjoyed it. However you flinched, which didn't go unnoticed by the person.
