It was the first day of school. The weird kid from downstairs had moved across from Meg.

Meg was in her room listening to her mother and Olly fight. Olly was her stepfather. She hated him.  She called him Porkb-Olly, because he looked like a disgusting pig and acted the part magnificently.

"Olly!" Her mom screamed. It was a scream of pain. Meg couldn't let him do that to her mom. Meg ran out of her room. She was the toughest 6 year old in all of Houston. When her mom was in bed and Olly was drunk, she got out of the fire escape and roamed the streets.

As she walked into the kitchen she looked like this(except more mad):

"Leave her alone, Olly!" Meg said, rage exploding in her face. She saw her mom with a bloody lip and a busted eye. Olly started walking towards her. "That's 'sir', to you young lady," Olly said, cracking his knuckles. "I don't think so," Meg said, spitting in Olly's face.

He wiped his face. "You're gonna regret that," Olly said. He lunged to punch Meg. She dodged. Then, Meg landed a solid punch on the drunkard's face, which sent him flying from surprise. Meg yelled and jumped on Olly and started beating him up.

When his shock was over, Meg jumped out the fire escape and made it to the bus stop right on time, not a scratch on her. She saw one of the bigger 1st graders picking on a skinny Latino kid. She knew the kid doing the picking. "Hey there, Dougykins," Meg said. Douglass Anderson hated being called that and looked up at Meg. "Well, well, well," Douglass said. "What do we have here? What do you want, Squeaky Schitz?" Meg came fast with retorts. "I don't know why you call me squeaky, cause my voice is deeper than yours," Meg said. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" Douglass considered this. "Like you?"

"Come at me," She replied. She landed the first hit and it was solid. Meg moved on to the bus. She walked by three empty seats with someone in the one next to it. Becky Geeves , a girl with red hair, asthma, glasses and braces, moved her backpack so that Meg couldn't sit there. "Don't even think about it, Schitz," Becky said. Kids that had known Meg forever called her Schitz because she was the person to have Schizophrenia. When Meg was younger, she told her teacher that she had seen a man in black that had fire eyes looking at her and that she had seen Olly with a tail and scales instead of skin. They put her threw so many tests, and Schizophrenia showed up, along with ADHD. She had medicine to take, but she never took it. The next kid that had an empty seat was Alexander Patterson. He was an A-class nerd with messy hair and a graphic novel or comic in his hand all the time. "Back up, Freako," Alexander said. She moved on a few more seats and saw Douglass's bud, Matt Henson, but she didn't even stop there. Nope. Meg moved all the way to the back of the bus and put her black headphones on and listened to music she loved. Rap. Eminem, Beastie Boys, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Bad meets Evil, Wu Tang Clan, and those were just a few of her favorites. Right now she was listening to 'Till I Collapse by Eminem and Nate Dog.

The kid that had been getting beat up sat next to her. She looked at him. She knew what he wanted. She took her headphones out. "Quoi?" Meg said in French. It meant what. "Que?" the boy said in Spanish. "It's French for: What?" Meg said. "Oh, um, I'm Leo. Thanks for saving me out there." The Latino said. "They call me Schitz," Meg said. "Now get lost. They'll start calling you Schitz Jr."

"Why do people call you Schitz?" Leo asked. "Because I have Schizophrenia," Meg said. "You know. I see people, hear things that aren't really there. You feel me?" Leo didn't seem to be scared. "That sounds cool!" Leo said. Meg was shocked. "Excuse me?" She said. Everyone she met and told her why she was called Schitz immediately left, thinking she was crazy. "Well yeah!" Leo said. "You can see the most awesome people, like JFK, without going back in time! It's like a super power! I'm ADHD, and my mom says that it's my super power." Meg thought this kid was pretty cool. "Elithya-Megara Atalanta Allouette," she said. "You can just call me Meg." Leo followed her around school the rest of the day.

When they got off the bus that evening, Meg and Leo went to the same apartment and the same floor. Right across the hall from each other. Meg had actually had a good first day of school and made a new friend.

1 YEAR LATER

Leo and Meg had been in 2nd grade for a semester now, but today, Meg's Schizophrenia was acting up it started the evening before. She'd seen Olly in her room as a thing that her teachers called a Leviathan. He'd been beating up Therese (her mom). They were 7 years old now.

"Leo?!" Meg whisper yelled on the bus, looking out the window with scared eyes. "What's up with you today, Meg?" Leo asked. "You're really jumpy today. Is it the Schizophrenia?" Meg looked at him. "That's what I'm trying to figure out. Did you see that man with fire eyes looking at us?" Meg said. Leo looked out the window. "Nope," he said nonchalantly. "Just an old man on the side of the road." Meg shuddered. "Hey," Leo said. "Can't you, like, take medicine for the Schizophrenia?" Meg replied: "Yes, but it clouds my mind and makes it harder for me to focus. It helps the Schitz, but it makes the ADHD so much worse."

Meg went through the day seeing weirder things, like her teacher Mr. Harris having bat wings and a fiery whip. When she got home that night, Olly didn't help the Schizophrenia. The first thing she saw was Olly the Leviathan attacking her mom. "Meg!" Her mom screamed like a damsel in distress. "Run! Don't look back! Don't come back! He'll get you, too! Find Camp Half-Blood!" And then, Olly threw her mom out the window. "Mom!" Meg screamed.  She ran to the window and saw her mother's lifeless body on the pavement. "Meg!" called the foggy voice of Meg's mom as it had been for thirty minutes. Meg came out of the Schizophrenic vision. Meg started crying and ran to her room.

Hours Later

Later that evening, Meg heard her mother's screams. The same she had heard that afternoon in the Schitz universe. "Mom!" Meg screamed. She ran out of her room and saw Olly as a Leviathan attacking her mom. "Mom?" Meg said shakily. "Is this real? Is that what Olly really is?" Therese looked at her and nodded slowly. "Meg, I need to tell you something," Therese said, trying to say it quickly, but Olly attacked her more. "Meg!" Her mom screamed like a damsel in distress. "Run! Don't look back! Don't come back! He'll get you, too! Find Camp Half-Blood!" Olly did the exact same thing as in the vision. Threw Therese out the window. "Mom!" Meg screamed. Something appeared on the couch. A bow with a quiver of arrows and a dagger. The knife was silver with a crescent moon on it. The bow and quiver were golden and had a harp looking thing on it. meg skidded on the floor to grab the two gifts. She shot an arrow right where she aimed: the eye. It was a perfect shot. Then, with the beautifully crafted dagger, she screamed yelling as she stabbed Olly in the heart: "This for my mother, Therese Antoinette Marie Allouette, you son of a-"   She was cut off as Olly's scream filled the room. Meg was blown out the window right next to her mother with the bow, the quiver of arrows and the dagger. Meg scooted closer to her mom. "Mom," she whispered. "What did you need to tell me?"

Her mother told her that her Schizophrenia wasn't really Schizophrenia. It was the prophetic gift of her real godly parent. Apollo. "Tell your father-" Therese said, cut off by a cough that brought blood, "Tell him-It's not his..." She trailed off, dead.

Meg woke up in Cabin 7 from the relived dream of her mother's death.
