Outside the bar stood Supro waiting for Nicolas. Jumping out from the dimensional portal came Nicolas tumbling out in front of Supro. "I'm back."
"Oh um. That was unexpected." Supro picked Nicolas up and set him on his feet. "Unstable rift you made. Be careful with those." Supro opened one up. "We'll take mine for now."
"Okay." Nicolas hopped threw followed by Supro to the gates of the overworld. Walking in, he flew with Nicolas to the castle to rest up for the night.
In the throne room Nicolas was full of energy running in circles. "Can we play?"
"No, Nicolas. You must rest for the nights rolling in. Everyone is tired."
"Oh... I'm not."
"I can tell. I myself and quite ready for a good night's rest. Tomorrow Gale will continue your flight training."
Nicolas stopped. "Why not you train me?"
"I have things to tend to tomorrow. Weekdays are very busy but it's my duty."
"Okay..." Nicolas looked down with a frown.
Supro grabbed his little horn and shook his head. "If I have time we can play."
"Promise?"
"Promise." He began to his room with Nicolas trotting behind him.
Resting up for the night Supro woke to Nicolas vanishing into his room attempting to land on him. "Wake up!"
Supro catch Nicolas with a tired look on his face. "What time is it?"
"I don't know but I'm awake."
Supro set Nicolas next to him and attempted to continue his rest. "Go back to bed, Nicolas."
"But I'm awake now." He stood leaning on Supro. "Please wake up."
Supro looked for a clock. It was still an hour before day was here. Sitting up he yawned and Nicolas's face lit up. "Yay you're up. We can play."
"No we can't. I have to get ready for the day and you too."
"Aw." Nicolas flopped over on the bed. "Can I go with you?"
"No, you have to learn how to fly."
"I will but I want to with you."
"I'm a king, I have a duty to my kingdom. I mustn't fail or I will be failing all of overworld."
"Okay..."
The two began getting prepared, Supro dressed in fine wear while Nicolas in clothing suitable for training. Off to the courtyard went Nicolas to continue his training with Gale and Supro went to discuss various topics with the council.
Walking in to the Parthenon the council stood as kneeled.
"Welcome, Supro. What it is were discussing is what you've done."
"Alright... I understand I must be punished for my crimes just know I don't repent. I love Infra."
"We are aware. Now tell us how this came to be to judge you on this matter."
"We were at the battle field strangers to one another and after the battle she offered to go to a bar together. I had time to go and met here at said bar and we got to know one another by anonymous names. She knew not who I was nor I her and we came to like one another as any who spend time together. There was intention of conceiving a child. It was an accident. She came to find who I was and was upset, she left, and there was little I could do to convince her to say. She told me who she was and it was indeed Infra. I didn't see her for almost a year afterwards. We met for a last time to figure out what to do with the kid. I wished to bring him to overworld but Infra thought living a simple life as a human would be the easiest for him. Not weaponized or a deity, just human. Then went on with our lived like nothing ever happened."
"You stopped seeing her?"
"Yes."
"And found the child at the tournament?"
"Yes, Indra had found Nicolas and trained him. Indra is a cambion, ½ brother of Infra and raised by humans. Indra felt by putting Nicolas on display his parents would hopefully see and come for him. From there I was able to find the boy and bring him here."
The council spoke amongst themselves and looked down onto Supro. "Oblivious as you were you've stayed loyal to the overworld for centuries. You're punishment only a decade of imprisonment. After this time the throne shall be returned to you."
"Thank you so much. Only a decade." Smiled Supro. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
"Now relinquish your belongings and the holy guard shall escort you by noon."
"Thank you."
"At ease, Supro."
Supro stood and left.
Meanwhile in the underworld Infra stood before the council of Iblis. A room of obsidian with Iblis sitting upon his throne looking down with his council onto Infra. "You know why you're here, don't you?"
"It's about my son." Answered Infra
"No, it's about that monster you conceived without a damn word to me!"
"His names Nicolas."
"I don't care what the bastards called! To think you'd have a child with the king of angels? Angels, Infra? Not a demon or a lowly human but a damn angel. What made you think it was a good idea? To create something far superior than Asura! You must have some scheme going."
"No I was just an idiot."
"Don't lie!"
"..." Infra looked down to the cold dirt below and took a deep breath. "I love him."
"What was that? Speak up."
Infra look up to Iblis with tears of blood down her eyes. "I love Supro!"
Iblis dropped from his throne and vigorously made his way to Infra kneeling before him, clawing his way into her hair he rose her to where there faces were only inches apart. "Don't you dare lie to me?!"
"I'm not!"
He dropped her and spat. "Then why don't you go to him! Huh?!"
Infra shook as she stood on her hands and knees. "My duties to the underworld."
"Really? Your duties? You thought being with Supro was your duty huh?"
"No..."
"Infra... how you've disappointed me. I chose you over Indra because you're pure demon. Don't make me regret my decision." He sighed. "Despite you creating this abomination, I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. Bring me the monster and all forgiven, or I'll go find him myself and burry him where we meet understand?"
"Yes..."
"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
"Y-yes, my lord."
"Good now leave, don't return to the underworld until you bring him to me."
Infra left to the prison where Indra slept. Smacking her dagger into the polls Infra groaned. "Can you not?"
"I'm leaving the kingdom to you." She opened the gate. "Iblis kicked me out."
"Really?" Snickered Indra. "Oh ho ho. So for how long?"
"If I can give him Nicolas he'll let me return."
"Oh?" Indra stepped out. "So it's all mine now... Nice."
"Before I go I must ask, do you actually care about Nicolas?"
Indra cracked out a fake smile. "What do you think?" I walked toward the stairs out of the prison.
"I thought you were different Indra, thought you really cared."
Indra stopped and held the feather around his neck. "You don't know me, or humans... how we are with real family..." Indra vanished out of the prison to his empty castle. "Family is everything."
OVERWORLD
Supro glided and into his castle to relinquish his things. Nicolas watching him fly in ran on in. Supro set aside his crown and jewelry onto his dresser as Nicolas teleported in. "Hey Dad! Wanna play?"
Supro stopped what he was doing and kneeled before the boy, hand on his shoulder he spoke softly. "Nicolas... I have to leave for a while longer. I know we've only been together shortly and took that time for granted just know I'm doing it for you."
"For how long?"
"A decade, ten years."
"That's so long!"
"It really isn't, Nicolas. We live for centuries, my punishment only being a decade is a blessing."
"I don't wanna be alone again..." Nicolas eyes welled up with tears. "I just got you back..."
Supro gave Nicolas a big hug. "Don't cry, I'll be back. You'll be a man by then and I'm truly sorry it has to be like this but after we can be together always."
"Always?"
"Always." Supro let Nicolas go but he held on tight. "Oh Nicolas..."
"Don't go."
He pulled Nicolas off him, looking at Nicolas's red face. He smiled. "When I'm back we can play all day."
"All all day?"
"All day, I promise."
"Okay." Nicolas wiped his face with his sleeves. A little leaf fell of his angel horn. "Good bye."
Supro stood up. "How about a 'see you later'?"
"Um. S-see you later..."
Supro pat Nicolas's head and walked out his room and made his way to the front of the castle at noon to accept his punishment.
Gale stood at the gates watching. "Damn... seeing Supro arrested is crazy..."
"Yeah, he's the most serious rule by rule guy, so uptight, to think he was getting off to a demon is insane. Love makes anyone do crazy things." Replied a royal guard at the gate with Gale.
"He was such a straightforward guy, serious and honest but seeing him with his kid it's like he's a whole different person. So joyful and a complete idiot." Sighed Gale. "Guys gonna miss out on his kids childhood."
"Nothing he can do, rules are rules."
"The council cut him some slack making it only a decade but I'm sure everyone's a bit thrown off. No king for a decade and an illegal hybrid flying around."
"Hope that kid doesn't end up like Asura."
"That's what everyone's worried about but from training the kid he doesn't seem like a monster, just a loser. Asura thrived in every aspect of this kingdom while this kid can barely fly."
"He can't fly?"
"Barely. He's a little try hard."
"Maybe that's a good thing."
"I guess."
The day passed and by morning Gale went to wake Nicolas to find him sitting on the steps outside of the palace all dressed and clean. "Oh um good morning."
"I'm ready..." Nicolas looked up at Gale. "What's the plan?"
"Oh um you can pretty much fly now so I'll be dropping you off at the academy."
"Can't I just fly there?"
"Well yes but you're just a kid so I'm going with you."
"Am I though...? Supro left because of me didn't he...?"
"He's dealing with his mistake."
"But I'm that mistake..."
"Nicolas. Don't be like that."
"I just hurt everyone that tries to help me."
Gale kicked Nicolas knocking him over. "Stop your wining."
"..."
"Supro did leave for you to complain, now common I got a job to do." He picked Nicolas up and flew off to the academy.
The entrance to the temple was open and threw the stained glass came days rays to light it up in many colors. Young angels trotted in with Dina sitting at the entrance. Landing before him Gale dropped Nicolas. Hopping to his feet, Nicolas patted himself off. "Ow."
"I'll be back later for you." Gale took off quick without a word to Dina.
Dina look weirdly at Nicolas. "So you can fly?"
"Kinda." Answered Nicolas.
"Great..." Sighed Dina. "Well you are a bit different... so your half angel and demon?"
"Yeah. Supro's my dad and infra my mom."
"That's different. Pure royalty."
Nicolas reached up and grabbed Dina's hand and shook it. "I'm Nicolas."
Dina tugged his hand away. "Dina."
Nicolas looked around awkwardly. "Um..."
"Go inside."
"Okay." Nicolas ran on in and sat in the back of all the kids there.
After the bell rang above a small legion of young angels sat before Dina.
"Welcome back everyone." Dina paced before the crowd. "We have a new face joining us today. Son of Supro, Nicolas."
Nicolas sat oblivious the other kids looked about for the new comer.
"Nicolas when called on you stand." Explained Dina.
"Oh." Nicolas stood with a smile looking around. "Hi." He waved around.
"Have anything you'd like to share?"
"Um... I'm N-nicolas." He stuttered as the other kids giggled.
"I meant any thoughts or why you're here."
"Oh uh I'm supposed to learn how to use angel powers or something like that."
"There not powers, Nicolas. There our gifts from Allah to protect the kingdom."
"Oh okay."
"Tell us about yourself."
"Um I grew up in the human world, with humans and stuff. I'm not a human though, I'm an angel and demon hybrid. Um... I like eating bread, especially if you put something sweet on it." Smiled Nicolas. "Like honey." A few more kids chuckled.
"Anyone have any questions for him?"
A few hands shot up.
Calling on a girl in the front she turned and look at Nicolas nervously. "Do demons really eat rats?"
"What?! No. We eat regular food but I can say I've eaten one and it's alright."
Dina shook his head in disappointment and called onto another kid. This time a little boy rose his hand, Dina called on him.
"I like butter better." Said the boy.
"That's not a question." Sighed Dina. "That's enough for now. You may sit, Nicolas."
Nicolas plopped down and watched as Dina went into a lesson on history of the angels. Nicolas zoned out only a few minutes into it and woke when everyone started outside. Last one to run for the door Dina stopped him with a simple question. "Nicolas? Mind staying a moment?"
"Sure." Nicolas slowly backed up toward Dina.
"Now, I heard what happened to Supro and I'm sure its bothering you but you must pay attention. Your father went through the same classes and passed with flying colors. I know you're not your father, no one can ever be the same as another so you father told me to give you extra lessons."
"Extra?"
"Yes your part angel but you're royalty. You're father demanded extra lessons from me when he was a child to better himself. He wishes the same from you."
"Is he really good?"
"Our best, yes he's king but he worked hard to live up to those standards. So let's begin."
"With what?"
"Tomorrow were going into our blades."
"Like our swords?"
"Yes. It's a hard task but the easiest of our abilities."
From thin air Nicolas created a golden sword, holding it. "This?" Dina stood in awe.
"Wha? How?"
"I um use it a lot, it was the 1st I could."
"Well you're ahead but seeing you didn't grow up here, who knows what brought it out." Dina whipped out a silver blade. "At first it's just a sense of protection but becomes second nature."
"I use it a lot."
"That's good but by itself it's only a bud but with time its blooms." His silver blade grew in detail, hilt grew into a rose with a vine that string up part of the blade as the middle hollowed as the vine went through the back side, and the blade grew curves in both sides like a layered needle.
"Whoa..." Nicolas stood admiring Dina's blade. "Can mine look like that?"
"Well not mine but Supro's, the base is the same as his so I'm guessing the transformation as well. Most angel blades are a combination of their parents but with nephilims they have the angel parent's blade. Do you have a demon blade?"
Nicolas whipped out his demon dagger with chain and all. Gold like the sword.
"As I thought only in its early stage. As most children have."
"Is that good?"
"Yes. You have a lot you can work from."
"Nicolas!" Yelled Gale from outside the temple.
"Oh I gotta go."
"I'll see you in the morning."
Nicolas trotted out after Gale who was searching about. Spotting Nicolas he walked over to him. "Hey where were you?"
"With Dina." Answered Nicolas.
"Oh, he lecture you on something you did wrong?"
"Kinda."
"Well class is over and we can go home and relax."
"No training?"
"You can practice flying without me, I'm gonna head to the human world for a bit. I haven't seen Devan in a while. Told him I'd hangout with him."
"Can I come?"
"I don't care." Gale opened a rift to interworld. "Go ahead."
Vanishing into Interworld the two stood in the town they first met, his home town. "Well meet me back here by midnight, alright?"
"Okay." Nicolas ran off in town. Cloak on to hide himself, running off he bumped into someone and slid face first into the dirt. "Ow..."
The stranger he bumped into lifted him to his feet and handed him a handkerchief.
"Are you alright?" The strangers voice was unrealistic and static, words disfigures and painful as if his lungs were clogged. He wore a hood as Nicolas did but he wore a mask over his mouth that funneled his every breath into broken lyrics.
Nicolas looked up at this stranger and when their eyes met the two both jumped. "You..."
"Um..." The stranger looked around and back to Nicolas.
The two felt oddly at one another's presence, as if something was family but quite foreign.
"S-sorry I ran into you..."
"A-re you a... your eyes..." The strangers eyes were abstract, violet eyes with rings threw them but a catlike pupil.
"I-I'm Nicolas." He took the offered cloth for Nicolas, he took it and wiped his face.
"Oh I am um..." The stranger hesitated. "I can't say but uh are you... like me?"
"What?"
The stranger looked around cautiously and pulled down his hood. His hair a grey and horns a cross of both kinds, demon and angel. "Are you a hybrid too?"
The word 'too' struck. Stabbing into Nicolas. "Y-you're an asura?"
The stranger paused for a moment. "I'm... a hybrid." He threw his hood back up. "Like you. My parents were an angel and demon."
"We're the same." Nicolas smiled. "I thought I was the only one!"
"We're the only ones... I was the only one for a long... time." He coughed a bit. "I must go, every day I grow tired."
"Wait can I come?"
"I'm... not here. I'm due to purgatory."
"Purgatory?"
"I'm... a monster... alone I was and radical I acted so I was imprisoned."
"For being an asura?"
The stranger paused. "For being... Asura."
