Rain came slidin in at 30 minutes after the hour. I was standing in the living room as his car blessed my body with its tail lights. I heard his key in the door and I stood there in true ghetto girl fashion tapping my foot. When the door flew open he rushed to me and told me how sorry he was. I wanted to question him but it was kind of strange to smell Old Spice in his clothes when I knew for damn sure he only wore Sean Jean. Rain kissed my forehead and headed towards the bedroom and the shower. I stretched out in the bed and waited for his warmth. Within the next thirty minutes he emerged wrapped in a towel. He didn’t bother to rub lotion in his skin as normal he just crawled up in the bed. He fixed his pillows behind his head and got comfortable. Once he was comfortable he open his arms and I laid my head on his chest and fell asleep.
That mornin I stirred awake at about 7:15 that mornin and I was exhausted. I called into work and told Brian that I think I had caught some type of stomach bug. Brian laughed and said okay but he expected me to be there first thing the next day. I hung up the phone and pulled on my robe and headed out into the living room. As I was walking towards the living room I heard Rain arguing with someone on the phone. I walked towards the kitchen with caution. It seemed like the closer I got the lower his voice became. It was like he knew I was comin.
I entered the kitchen and he hung up the phone abruptly. “Good mornin Sweetie,” he turned and said “Good morning,” he leaned in and kissed my forehead. “Who was that on the phone,” he cracked a few eggs and said “Oh that was Brendan,” I scratched my head and was like “Who,” he scrambled the eggs and said “Somebody I work with, umm, are you hungry,” I shook my head and said “Yea,” Rain stood there beating eggs when he said “So ummm, what time will you be goin in today. You know your already late,” I pulled my robe closed and said “I called in today, you know how I get tired of crunching numbers all day,” he poured the eggs into the fryin pan and said “Well, breakfast will be ready in a minute Love,"
I walked back into the living room and turned on the T.V to the news channel. As I was getting comfortable my cell blurted out “Naked” by Marques Houston. I snatched it up and before anybody could say something I said rather quickly “Now is not a good time,” and disconnected the call. Rain came dancing out of the kitchen where he placed my food on the coffee table. There were pancakes, sausages and eggs. I looked up and said “Thank you baby,” he kissed my nose and said “I’ll be right back with your orange juice,” I tried silencing my cell phone when the same ring tone belted from its speaker. I tried turning the phone off but instead I dropped it. I could see Rain comin up the hall and my phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Finally I grab it and open it slowly and then close it quickly. “Who was that,” I looked up at Rain with a smile and said “It was probably Brian,” he smiled and said “Yea, Brian,” he then turned and said “I gotta get dressed so I can head to work, you gone be okay here by yourself or do you need company,” I shook my head and said “I’m fine Rain,” Rain walked into the bedroom. I heard the water come on and I turned my phone off.
