Prologue -Part 1

"Come children, come," said the pregnant chief's wife. She was beautiful with her large round belly, her long golden brown hair as it lay freely on her shoulder and back. Her sea foam green eyes look loving at her children as they sit on the large furs their father killed to provide them with food and warmth.

"Let me tell you of the tale that has been with our family through the years." As this was said her children's eyes brighten, they have been waiting many moons to hear this story. Willem (resolute protector) the oldest sat patiently for his mother to continue while Bram (raven) was bouncing with excitement.

"Oh please tell us." said Bram

"Okay now settle down, Bram. Our tale begins with a very beautiful woman with golden hair and bright gray eyes. She possessed power within her that no one knew of. Her name was unknown but we know her as the Moon Goddess. One afternoon while she was washing furs for her father, a wolf came up to her. He was calm and sat in front of her. She stared at the gentle creature with curiosity, as she slowly brought her hand to his nose. He sat with patience as her hand drew nearer and as her hand lay on his head, he closed his bright golden eyes which were once brown. They sat by the banks til night was upon them. While they sat the moon shone down on them and the woman said these words, 'I have never felt this connection to anyone or anything. As the moon as my witness I want to be with you until the end. But this can't be with you as a night creature so I will make you like me, with hands, feet and the ability to talk with words.' With these words spoken, the moon shone down on the creature and turned him to a man with long black hair and brown eyes. He was built with muscle that covered with tan skin."

The children listen intently as their father comes home from hunting and village matters. He walked with this confidence and intimidation, he had brown hair and a beard. While he was long in years he loved his wife and children. His wife was pregnant with his third and final child, during Bram's birth there was trouble, they were lucky enough to have this pregnancy. Their father went to their mother and kissed with love. Bram ran to his father's arms for him to hold his four spring old self.

"Mother please continue, what happens after he turns human?" asked Willem. His mother looked at him with awe, he looked so much like her but with his father's personality. His father looked at his wife with questions but soon realized what his son was talking about.

"Okay my son. After he turned, he took her away from the bank to his pack and when they got there his whole pack was naked but human. Many were confused by this but as the couple arrived, they soon ran to him in question. The man spoke for the first time, 'I have met my love, I feel that she is my soulmate' with this said they became Alpha and Luna of the pack and Luna blessed the whole pack so made it possible for them to have a soulmate."

"Will I have a soulmate?" Willem asked his mother.

"You may or maynot my son, for only the men and women that can turn have soulmates. If you don't have a soulmate, you will find a beautiful woman who will love you and give children to carry on our reign." said his mother.

"Mother, please, how come we call her Moon Goddess?"

"We call her that because when she died the universe saw her as devine and made her the Moon Goddess. She now looks over us with love and intelligence for the future. Come children it's time for your rest so tomorrow your father can teach you ways to hunt game to feed your family when the time comes.'' Their father then sat Bram on his cot full of furs while Willem climbed into the bed with his brother. Their mother kisses both their heads and their father watches with love.

As the couple was laying in bed, Veda (understanding) started to feel pain in her stomach. This feeling was common to her for this was the feeling before she gave life to her other children. Veda shook her husband, Torryn (chief) awake. As he woke he looked at his wife with worry because she was panting and holding her stomach.
