Chapter 5_Field Trip And Discussions

Mei's POV

'OK, Yuzu is officially creeping me out. Something is really wrong with her. Truthfully, they way she spoke to that teacher.... I need to contact mother after school.' "And that will be all for today. Right now I'm going to hand you over some papers that your parents shall sign for the field trip to Kukamoto, in order to find the remains of the castle of the late Great King. We will analyze the history, the myths and the architecture of the buildings. Then you will have some time to wander around the castle yourselves. I would request you to bring them signed back tomorrow. We will leave at Sunday." Just then, the bell rung. "Dismissed. Have a nice weekend." I started packing my bag when Yuzu came right up to me, surprising me. "Yo, Mei! Do you have Council work to do today?" "In fact I do not. Why ask?" "No reason! Just wanted to know if we will go home together!" "I suppose we will..." 'I can't bring up her weird behavior right now... Also, did she really just go back to her happy go lucky self just like that?! Ok, we are definitely talking with mother once we are back.'

*Time skip to the end of the school*

Still Mei's POV

"Meiiiiii! C' mon, let's go!" "I'm coming! Have a nice weekend Himeko." "You too, Meimei, and please watch out for your sister. She is acting really strange." "I know..." I sigh and turn to catch up with Yuzu. We have a silent walk home, which really surprised me since usually it's Yuzu trying to strike a conversation with me. I wonder what she is thinking about....

Yuzu's POV

'I really need to inform Mei about what's been happening to me. Though, it ought to be complicated and she will get freaked out.... No, if we will continue with this relationship, she does need to know!' "Yuzu, we are home." I look up and see the apartment door open and Mei already inside. "Oops, sorry! I was distracted..." I chuckle and go inside, closing the door behind me. "Ah, there are my girls! What a surprise, Mei-chan you came in early!" "Yes mother, fortunately we finished the Council work during the breaks, so I called the meeting off." "That's wonderful! We can all have dinner together..... Yuzu darling, is everything alright?" "Huh? O-oh, yeah everything's fine. Just distracted." "Is that so?" Mom looks at Mei, who just shrugs. "Yuzu has not been behaving well since the first period this morning." Mom is about to say something but I cut her off. "So! Mom, we are having a field trip this Sunday to the ruins of the castle of the Great King, and the teacher wants you to sign these papers and we will present them tomorrow." "On Saturday? Aren't schools prohibited to work on weekends?" "In this case, no mother. Also all the expenses are paid from the school and the trip will last for a week." We hand mom the papers and she signs, stealing side glances at me. 'I know....'

Mei's POV

Mother has a curious look on her face as she glances partly at Yuzu. 'Now Mother too? This is becoming ridiculous!' Mother hands the papers back to us and tells us to change to comfortable clothes in order to have dinner. "Ne, Yuzu, are you feeling well?" "Hmm? Yep, I feel fine? Why ya askin?" "Well, your behavior today, though fascinating and intriguing, was also downright confusing and so not... Yuzu-ish." Yuzu laughs loudly and opens the door since she finished changing. "I guess... Maybe some of your lessons about maturity are finally sticking to me." With that she leaves. I sigh and finish putting on my clothes, but I hear sobbing coming from the kitchen. Sneaking my way out of the bedroom, I find Mother crying on Yuzu's shoulder, but I can't make out what Yuzu's saying. The only words I can decipher are "Alright" and "it's not like I can avoid it forever". I knock on the door behind me and walk up to them casually like I had not witnessed anything. Mother and Yuzu too act like one of them hadn't been crying. 'I need to get to the bottom of this... This strange behavior, Yuzu acting like a philosopher and now crying over things I do not know? Keeping weird secrets and acting aloof... That's not normal couple stuff... Actually that's not normal at all. And lastly......

Yo sorry for not updating, got really emotional over things and I studied my ass off to get my last degree on Italian! Just gonna put it there that from now on, there will bw double updates to fill up my absence! This story is not yet finished by a looooonnnnngggggggg shot, and I'd like to thank my dear fans, for your comments of encouragement and the worry you spared on me! I love you all!
