"so," daehyun started, looking at daeun. "what brought the two of you together?"

daeun told her cousin what had happened, and daehyun stared at his best friend in amusement. youngjae himself was staring down at his lap, didn't bother to open his mouth.

"okay, but why didn't you tell me that you're coming here sooner?"

she chuckled. "surprise?"

after a period of time, daeun noticed that youngjae had been quiet. calling him out, she flashed him a small smile.

"did you expect that i'm daedae's cousin?"

youngjae seemed to ponder for a while, before shaking his head.

"i really have no idea." the woman raised an eyebrow, sensing a double meaning to his words.

"let's make dinner!!" daehyun suddenly exclaimed, earning stares from the other two; daeun in disbelief, and youngjae in gratitude.

"what? i'm hungry!" he whined.

"don't worry, i'll cook," youngjae assured, "you two can have some quality time while i do so." he didn't wait for a response as he stood up and walked away with a nervous smile.

"uh," daeun slipped out. "i guess i need an explanation?"

daehyun chuckled. "he's... a unique fellow, eun. don't worry, he's just shy or a tad bit uncomfortable."

"is he always like that?"

"yeah. worse, even. maybe your encounter with him made him loosen up a bit?"

"but why didn't he feel awkward with me earlier?"

"most probably because he thought he'd not meet you again, so it's more of a one time thing..." daehyun trailed off. "he just had a bad past."

"how so?"

"too attached."

"ah," daeun was still confused, but at least she knew something.

daehyun chuckled. "don't think too much of it," he said. "he's actually a warm guy and i'm sure he won't shut you out. i wouldn't tell you more about him, but soon enough he'll tell you."
