“It’s been a while Reidth,” Mary commented before placing the flowers on the graveyard of Reidth Montero.
He was a well-known assassin. A hired to kill gunman whom the police has been chasing for almost a decade. He was a leader of a syndicate and a big fish in the smuggling industry. He was an orphan who found his way of survival through illegal works. He was a good friend of lawyers and cops in higher positions. But behind all these things, he was a good man. He supports orphanages and sends scholars to school. He backed charity groups and gave ample support to churches. Again, he was a man of heart but his ways were not that ideally good.
He believed he was born a bad boy. He grew up living the life of a bad guy. And he thought he’ll die a bad man. But along his way, he met a beauty who gave colors to his life. She kept on telling him that every person has the capacity to change and that God forgives everybody. He tried to believe her but bad habits die hard. She didn’t give up on him. She kept believing until she found out who he really was. She left him. He did not beg for her to stay. It was the best for both of them. He does not want her life to be at stake because of him.
But tragedy has its own way of making happy endings wrecked into pieces. A competing syndicate kidnapped her. They gave him two options: give up his dealings or the woman he loves will die. He chose the latter of course. But things got complicated when the cops intervene. To make the long story short, the factory where they were supposed to meet burnt into ashes. Only Reidth and Ed, the leader of the other syndicate, were left behind. At that moment, Reidth believe his life would end on that. But Ed offered him something – something he found hard to refuse.
“I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing but I’m trying to protect them. Unless Ed dies, Cattleya will never be safe.” She mustered to the graveyard.
“January next year, all of these will be over Reidth. It will be over.”
