‘Cattleya: When beauty meets creativity’
“That’s also my favorite,” said a voice from behind her. Mary felt the hair of her body raised to life. There was this erratic pounding of her heart like it’s gone out of mind and wanted to jump off her chest. She stood immobile. “I noticed that among the gallery walkers, you’re the one who spent so much time on this painting.”
Mary nodded to the artist behind all the breath-taking paintings on that gallery. Her name was Cattleya, just like the flower. And what Mary was looking at was the painting that shows the beautiful flower that bears the same name as the artist. At first look, the painting seemed abstract. It was like shades of black, white, purple and green combined together by a grade schooler, but the more you look at it, the more you see the image behind.
“How much is this?” There. She finally found her voice. She looked at the slender woman with blond hair. She was an epitome of simplicity and elegance. It’s like everything she wears fitted her perfectly. Her eyes were of olive shades and depict a strong woman who had gone through tough times but survived them with flying colors.
“I’m sorry but it’s not for sale.”
“Even if I offer you more than a million?” Mary asked.
Cattleya smiled wryly. “There are some things in this world which money can’t buy.”
“True that.” Mary smiled back at her. She checked her watch and found out that she’s late for her next costumer.
“Going so soon? You haven’t seen the other pieces.”
She tried her best not to give in. She needed to prioritize things.
“I’ve already seen the best. No need for other things. It’s nice to meet you Ca-the-lee.” Then, Mary started walking away.
Cattleya froze. Only one person calls her with that endearment. She turned and looked for the woman who has been coming to her art gallery exhibit for a week but found no trace of her.

‘It’s nice to meet you Ca-the-lee.’ These were his final words.
