Once he cooled down, Edward set to work cleaning up the mess. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to use the hotel bed. Oh well. He sighed as he picked up the bedsheets.
After he finished cleaning, Edward set off to see Mustang. Ed hadn't gone out of the country for a while, and had to plan his next trip. As he walked the streets, he argued with Alphonse about whether or not cats are better than dogs. He was too consumed to notice the person in the shadows, waiting for him.
Cats just strut around the house as if they own the place!
That's because they're independent!
As Edward walked past an alleyway, a hand grabbed him and pulled him away from the streets. Edward panicked in shock. The person tried to stop him from panicking.
"Wha?- Who?-Wh-"
"Shh!"
"But you-"
"Quiet!"
"But-" She pinned him to the wall and growled.
"I said, shut up. Got it?" Edward stopped panicking and nodded. After a few deep breaths, he waved a mental Buh-bye to Al and blocked him off. Edward looked at his attacker, and recognized her quickly. Her long black hair, pale skin, green eyes. This girl was Lieutenant Selena Helens. She had a bit of a reputation for having one too many sweethearts. What did she want with him? She smirked.
"Edward Elric. I know what you're hiding." Edward covered his fear with a confused frown.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Selena."
"You're lying, Elric. Tell me." he sighed.
"Fine. I'm the one who got Mustang's gloves all ruined yesterday." The Lieutenant blinked.
"That was you?! Never mind that." She shook him against the wall. her fingers were drawing blood from his shoulders by then. "You know what you are. Tell me. Now."
"Human? Of course I am." She slapped him across the face. Her fingers dug in even harder.
"You liar! Just say it!" his face was burning, but he simply looked down at her.
"What business do you have that needs this information anyway?" She grinned.
"Oh, Edward Elric, I'm so glad you asked." She used one hand to unbutton her shirt collar. His eyes widened when he saw the mark.
"You... He killed you. You should be dead."
"And because of you, I'm back. The rest will come back soon enough. one by one, we'll have them all again, plus one."
"And who is that 'plus one'?" Selena looked surprised.
"Why, you of course."
"I'd rather not."
"Who said you had a choice?" She leaned in closer. "you can't deny what's real, Elric."
"You're taking quite a risk showing yourself to me. I could tell everyone who you are." Selena laughed.
"You already know that if you want your secret to stay secret, you'll have to avoid questions." she let go of him, her fingers pulling out of his shoulders. "While we're here, why don't you show me where you're hiding it. Then you can leave." He shook his head as he turned to leave.
"I still don't know what you're talking about. So long, Lieutenant." He waved. Selena smirked.
"You lie too much." He ignored her as he walked away.
So, where were we? Oh yeah, we were talking about how awesome dogs were, right? Much better than cats. He said to Alphonse as he walked back towards the street as if nothing had happened.
She stood there in the alleyway, watching him leave. his shoulders had no sign of a scratch whatsoever.
"I'll be seeing you again, Lie."
