"Um Sean?" someone says.

"Yeah, what up?" I respond, lost in my thoughts.

Gabe came up behind me.

"You were staring off into space. Again."

I blinked a few times and turned to him.

"Oh, sorry."

"Have you seen Julian? Or Tahani? Or Kaycee for that matter?"

"Chloe said Julian went to the bathroom and Tahani went to go get props from her car. Kaycee went to go freshen up."

"Well, someone needs to go tell them that we're about to start warm up."

"Gotcha boss."

..............................Kaycee..............................

I run out, to see Tahani pinned up against the wall, Julian holding her arms down.

"If you tell anyone about this-" he's saying

"About what?" I say.

"About you completely betraying Chloe? About sneaking off to go make out in the girl's bathroom? About kissing her best friend!? I can't believe you. And you, Tahani, I can't believe you would do this! To think that you would backstab Chloe!"

"Kaycee, you have to believe me! He just grabbed me! I didn't want any of this," Tahani starts, but Julian covers her mouth before she can say anything else.

I start to walk off, to go storm into the studio and tell Chloe about what I'd just seen when suddenly, Julian barks, "Wait!"

I don't and keep walking, when he yells for me to stop again.

"I know you like Sean. No. You're in love with him."

What? How?

Was I?

I knew I liked him, but-

"No, I don't."

"Oh, please. I know that face. I know you were way jealous of Tate Mcrae when they were dating. And not just because of her abilities."

"It'd be irrelevant cause I don't like him."

"Well, I also know that your dad won a bet against a certain Chuck Lew, who is currently dead."

"You know what, Julian, nobody cares about what you say about me. Now, what you did is another story-"

"I wonder if Sean knows. Obviously not, since you're still working together on that little project of yours. Of course, if the truth got out-"

"Julian Deguzman, I swear to god, if you tell him anything about my dad-"

"Then you won't tell Chloe about what happened here! Great, we have a deal."

Finally, he let go of Tahani, who kneed him in the groin. Julian crumpled to the floor in pain.

"Remember, Tahani, I have dirt on you too," he called from the ground as we walked away

As soon as were far enough from him, Tahani burst into tears.

"I-I can't believe that just h-happened. I-I tried to s-stop him, b-but he just leaned in and and kissed me and I couldn't do anyt-thing to stop him. Said if if anyone found out he, he'd find a way to, to ruin Kaleyl's career, so, so I didn't do anything. But then, he telling me to sneak out so we could make out in private, when Chloe wasn't there. I almost was able to tell her, but he found out and threatened to hurt Kaleyl, so I told him I'd continue whatever we had."

"Tahani, omigod Tahani, it's not your fault at all."

"Kaycee . . . do you like Sean?"

"Well . . . as friends. He's an awesome guy, no doubt, but, well..."

I wanted to tell her the truth

About the time we sang in the car together

About when me called me pink cheeks and I blushed even harder,

About the boy at Showstopper

The boy who's necklace I'm wearing, even now, after- what? 10 years?

About the boy I may have had a crush on without even remembering his name

About the one I zinged for

But also, the boy my family hurt

He'd grown up without a father and it was my family's fault

No.

It was my fault.

Julian was right.

If he ever found out, he would never love me
