Monty wagged his shaggy tail so hard, the bed shook mercilessly as Marty Deeks cracked one eye open very carefully to peer at his clock. Making note that once again, Monty had awakened the bleary-eyed NCIS Special Agent well before his alarm was set to go off...and on a Saturday, no less.

"Really Monty?!" Deeks sleepy voice cracked at the happy-go-lucky dog who thought it was a great idea to wake his owner up so damned early...on a Saturday, no less. "You can't wait until the sun wakes up himself?"

Monty continued to wag his tail madly, knowing that his human was now awake. It was time for peeps and pups to go play. Deeks growled and grumped his way out of his warm and cozy bed, yelping slightly as his bare feet hit cold wood floors.

"Okay Monty." Deeks laughed despite feeling like a grumpy curmudgeon at the pre-dawn wake up call from his four-legged pal. "Give me a few minutes and we'll take our morning run."

Monty yipped and frolicked around Deeks' legs as he eagerly anticipated spending some pup-time with Marty. Marty wondered as he got a closer look at his alarm clock if calling his partner and best friend, Kensi Blye, might be a good idea, or not. On the weekends, Fern was not an early riser and the thought of facing her wrath should he take leave of his senses caused the shaggy surfer boy to pause and consider his next step carefully before walking into danger with both blood-shot eyes wide-ish open.

Without a solid plan for anything today, Deeks was free to get some much-needed chores done once and for all. Later on this evening, he was fairly certain Kensilina would be available to do something together; dinner and perhaps a movie would be a nice change of pace for the couple. As he thought about his day, Marty laced up his running shoes, walked to the mud room to grab Monty's leash before heading out for his daily run.

"C'mon, boy." Deeks called to his furry companion. "Time to fly." As he reached for his keys, his phone alerted him to an awaiting text message. A smile lit up the surfer's face as he recognized the sender without looking.

Are you awake yet?" The text read.

Yep...Monty and I are heading out for a run. His idea. Deeks typed. You?

I'm right outside waiting.

Really? Why?

I'm itching to surf!

Deeks considered this for a moment and quickly made his decision.

"How about we grab a wave or two, Monty?" Deeks asked his dog. "Kensilina will be there."

At the sound of Kensi's name, Monty's tail-wag became so fierce that Deeks worried the mutt would break it. Laughing as he patted and scratched behind the scruffy dog's ears, Marty shot off a text telling his friend that they would be out in a few moments.

"Easy boy!" Deeks laughed heartily. "I can't wait to see her either, buddy."

A knock at the door alerted the blond man to Kensi's presence behind the door.

"Coming." Marty called out.

Opening the door to the most beautiful and glorious sight a man could see, Kensi Marie Blye stood before her shaggy surfer boyfriend with a goofy smile plastered to her lovely face as Monty nearly dislocated Deeks' right arm to greet his human's mate. Kensi cooed and greeted Monty cheerfully as she squatted down to his level and loved-up on the scruffy pooch. Deeks handed the leash to Kensi as she stood erect and sweetly kissed her boyfriend and partner before rushing the dog out for his morning walk prior to his day at the beach.

"Meet you back at the car, Deeks." Kensi called as Monty hurriedly sought out the first blade of grass to 'water and fertilize' before he had a doggy accident.

"See you in a few minutes." Deeks called as he closed the door and quickly gathered his surfing gear and board; kicking his running shoes off in exchange for a pair of flip-flops. Grabbing his gear bag, Marty checked to make sure he had dry clothes to change into once their surfing adventure was over. Most likely, they would walk to their favorite coffee shop on the pier to plan out their date later this evening. It was a ritual, though slightly boring and mundane, was by far the best part of the day for Deeks. He got to spend time with the love of his life and to him, it didn't get any better than that.

As he sat his surfboard carefully out of the way, Marty locked up his home and made his way to Kensi's SRX...just as Kensi and Monty finished their race back to her vehicle; Monty won, of course.

"You ready, Max?" Kensi asked using a former undercover name of Deeks' as she stepped into his awaitng embrace.

"Oh yeah, Fern." Deeks crowed excitedly as Monty added his two-cents worth with a yip. "I checked the reports and the waves will be wicked-cool today. You think you can handle it?"

Kensi leaned back slightly and pegged Marty's shoulder lighly in response before kissing him lovingly; his powerful arms wrapped about her slender waist. Savoring each moment of the kiss, the couple were in no hurry to part and enjoyed the feel of one against the other.

Begrudingly ending the kiss before their building passions took control, Deeks rested his forehead against Kensi's their eyes closed as they waited for the tinglies to subside. Kissing her forehead, Deeks gazed deeply into Kensi's mismatched eyes and held them for another long moment. Likewise, Kensi looked deep into Marty's piercing blue orbs and found herself getting lost in their crystal clear peacefulness.

As Kensi held Deeks' gaze, she could clearly see her future in his eyes...the joys; the sorrows, the grief and pain of being clandestine federal agents in an increasingly violent world; the happiness; the peace; and the pitter-patter of mutant ninja assassins chasing their shaggy-headed father around a large backyard with friends and family looking on and laughing at their antics. Since the day Kensi lowered the final wall around her heart and let the sufer-boy federal agent in, she knew her life would change dramatically...and for the best. Here in Martin Deeks' arms, Kensi Marie Blye felt safe and loved and whole again...and she was not about to let anything or anyone take that from her or from Marty Deeks ever again.

"I love you with every fiber of my being, Marty Deeks till my dying breath and beyond."

"And you my beautiful Princess, I love you now and forever...until the sun burns to ash."

Then Monty reminded the doting couple that he was still waiting and so was the beach...
