FLYING

That night I had a recurring dream, well more like nightmare, of me lying to my friends. I know it sounds pathetic but it's starting to really get to me.

"I promise" I squealed with such enthusiasm that I'd help my best friends Blu and Charlotte , with their packing for their new house. But I never got round to it because I never helped them so they never got to move. Which is why it haunts me to this day. What if both of there dream men was there and it was my fault that they never met. That sort of stuff gets to you.

I woke up, with terror shot in my eyes from last night. Suddenly, I realised I had a meeting to get too, not one with Chidi though, one with the whole town.

I got changed into my casual clothes; which consisted of a oversized grey sweatshirt and black skinny jeans, paired with some old, dirty white converse. I quickly sprinted over to the meeting, whilst running past Eleanor's house I realised that she had actually gotten up. I thought that she would've still been a sleep.

"Shirt!" I shouted, releasing all my anxiety about being the only person in the whole neighbourhood who had forgotten. "Chidi's going to kill."

By the time I got there Micheal was just starting his speech about how everything was getting back to normal since the "incident"

I sat down in one of the deck chairs Chidi had saved me. Eleanor was sitting the other side of him trying to hold in her laughter as she couldn't believe that I was late.

Once seated Micheal opened the floating screen which had lovely white clouds dotted across the bluest of blue skies. "Right we're going to something everyone's wanted to do- fly!" Shouted Micheal with glee.

The crowd, me, Eleanor and Chidi included stared cheering and clapping with excitement. I couldn't wait.

That's when Tahani ruined it all.

"Early today in all of the chaos, large swaths of this neighbourhood were destroyed. We thought perhaps some of us could volunteer to help clean up the debris. You know, it's quite a fun way to Band together as a community." Eagerly said Tahani.

I muttered under my breath, "how self centred can someone be" hopefully no one heard me.

Tahani continued to say, "oh yeah, sorry. For those who don't know my soulmate: Jianyu took a vow of silence since he's a Buddhist monk and he's still continuing it here in the good place. Isn't that truly inspiring." She gloated.

After finishing her speech Micheal allowed people to help clean up but would miss out on flying. Surprisingly a few people raised there hand to help, which shocked me.

"I can't believe all these people are passing on flying to pick up rubbish all day." I heard Eleanor whisper to Chidi. I couldn't agree more with her. "I'll be soaring through her air like a forkin' bird!" She also muttered.

That's when Chidi raised his hand and shouted, "Eleanor, y/n and I would love to help."

Wiping the smug smiles of mine and Eleanor's face.

"Hurrah, Hurrah." Tahani clapped.

Me and Eleanor instantly turned to look at Chidi with a look of anger spread across our face. "dude, what are you doing" we both shouted.

"You want to prove you not selfish? Here's the perfect test." He replied with a grin spread across his happy little face. Which means we had to do it because we need to prove that we belong in the good place.

So me, Chidi and Eleanor picked up the remains as this mornings fiesta, whilst the others soaring over our heads having loads of fun cheering in the sky. With the air running through the hair.

"Great! The good place is going to be so fun." I smiled with absolute hatred.
