"I told Secret service that taking her out of the house was a last resort and if they were to do so they must have sedated her immediately.""At least she's safe Angela, has she woken up yet?" The voice on the other line replied.
"No, I'm going to have to go see you in 10." Angela replied.
Alexa could hear her mother's familiar voice resonating throughout the room she was in however couldn't find the energy to even open her eyes. She didn't know where she was but she didn't care anymore, she wanted to lay there for as long as she could.
"I want FBI and Homeland in command ops now! Also find me James we need a briefing immediately." Angela ordered down the phone.
Alexa found her mother barking out orders down her work phone to disturbing to rest so she slowly fluttered her eyes open as she adjusted to the light of the new environment.
Sensing her daughter waking up, Angela immediately stopped what she was doing and rushed to her side. Alexa finally opened her eyes wide and sat up right. She took in the walls of reinforced steel that surrounded her and caged her in and it was then she felt her chest tighten once again when she realised where she was, or where she was not.
"No, no honey calm down. Remember what Dr. Salvers said: concentrate on counting and breath though your nose and out your mouth. I know baby, I know just breathe for me." Her mother encouraged whilst she crouched down in front of the steel bench Alexa was sitting on, she ran her soft palms down Alexa's cheek to soothe her.
Eventually, Alexa calmed down and was able to breathe properly again but it didn't stop the tears streaming profusely from Alexa's eyes. All her mother could do was cradle her daughter in her arms for a short while before the drama of politics and her work dragged her away.
"I have to go baby, you'll be safe don't worry." Angela said before pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. She then hurried out of the rooms automatic steel door as she nodded at the guard outside. The heavy insurmountable door slowly closed, caging Alexa in once again.
She brought her knees to her chest and continued to sob, she had no control of it. Her chest heaved up and down as she let all her built up emotions pour out of her like a leak in a boat.
She lifted her head up to look at her surroundings when she realised she had company. Aiden was sitting at the far end of the steel bench and watched as Alexa was taken by surprise by his being there.
"Hey are you feeling better now." Aiden asked as he moved closer to Alexa on the bench.
"What do you think." She replied sardonically.
"Stupid question, my bad." He spoke as he rested his head back on the silver wall. His tie was loosened now and his intricately made school blazer was discarded beside him.
"Do you know what happened?" Alexa asked him as she ran a hand through her messy hair and straighten her blouse not before scooting closer too.
"An explosion happened at the White House chief of staff's house and threats were sent to our parents saying the same things were gonna happen to our homes." He explained.
"And.."
"And we're here because the threat was real because he didn't make it." Alexa completed for him.
"And.."
"And my mom just got promoted to chief of staff." Alexa finished for him again.
"You catch on quick don't you?"
Alexa replied with nothing but a smile before asking: " So how long are we stuck here?"
"Not a clue, they hurried us in here 20 minutes ago."
