"What exactly is a filibuster." Cameron asked surrounded by copious sheets and textbooks."An obstructive tactic used in the United States Senate to prevent a measure from being brought to vote." Alexa replied
"You act as if you do not own a phone with a smart assistant why are you bothering me Cam?"
"Because you're my Amazon Alexa? I mean it's pretty cool I didn't have to buy one because I can ask you whatever my heart desires."
"Shut it Camalam." Alexa threw one of her numerous pillows that made the extravagant display that was her bed at Cameron. It was always often that she grew annoyed to his annoying Amazon Alexa jokes. Sometimes she would silently curse Jeff Bezos as she was now the butt of incredibly annoying puns about the Fortune 500 company's smart assistant.
Alexa focused her attention back to her MacBook. She had a paper due for the online courses she takes and she found it increasingly difficult to concentrate when her friends (especially Cameron) would distract her with unimportant questions. However instead of distracting Alexa with his large presence and personality, Cameron snatched the TV remote from near Alexa and switched on the flat screen TV mounted to the wall on the opposite side of the room.
"Why has it turned on to the news channel." Cameron questioned perplexed by her choice of TV entertainment.
"Unlike some people Cam, I wanna know how quickly society is progressing to doomsday." Alexa replied whilst trying to come up with something, anything to write.
"Twitter Moments is the only news source I have or need." Cameron said proudly.
"Yeah Twitter's fun but who needs it when CNN are reporting on how 21 Savage got detained by ICE."
"Those memes are leaving me struggling to breathe." Cameron chuckled as he pulled his phone out.
"Me too brother, me too. Now give me that and actually start doing some studying." Alexa said whilst jumping from her bed and onto the couch where he was sitting to snatch his phone from his hands.
"No fair." He pouted from the couch, to which Alexa gave him a chastising look.
"I wish Lois was here so she could deal with your ass so I could sit back and watch the show you two put on anytime there's a slight disagreement." Alexa huffed whilst closing her MacBook.
She had given up on the English paper she was struggling to write as nothing seemed to be coming to her head. Although she was extremely academically gifted, she ,like all ordinary people had those days were she couldn't get her brain to comprehend complex concepts for essay writing when it came to literature.
"Too bad she's off strutting her stuff in NY so you're left with your most beloved friend who wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here." Cameron beamed and Alexa had to fight the urge to throw a heavy textbook near her straight at his head. She wondered if the major brain damage would be enough to shift his brain about a bit so he'd finally act decently.
"Enough chitchat now come on you have an exam tomorrow, it's literally the only reason you're here annoying the hell out of me, AP Gov and Politics isn't that hard to understand just watch a few episodes of House of Cards and you'll ace any exam."
"So does that mean we can watch an episode now?" Cameron asked with a hopeful smile. However, he knew he was pushing his luck.
"Nice try idiot. Now what is gerrymandering?" Alexa questioned him.
"Sounds like a dude named Gerry wandering around the Great Plains ." Cameron answered sardonically.
Alexa huffed but as she did the tone of the doorbell echoed throughout the house, signalling that they had a visitor. Both her mother and father were at work as it was still in the afternoon so it was just the two of them in the large, empty house with it being the weekend.
