I looked across the street, hearing someone start speaking. I followed their voice and I scrunched up my nose. He was a loyalist and knowing these parts he was going to get shot if he spoke any louder.
"They have not your interests at heart..."
"Oh my god, tear this dude apart." Someone with a deep voice laughed and patted a man who was about the same height as me on the back. I looked at him curiously, biting my lip and turning away, not wanting to be caught staring.
"This congress does not speak for me." The smaller man moved forwards before a different taller one put a hand on his shoulder, effectively stopping him.
"Let him be." He said, removing his hand.
"They're playing a dangerous game. I pray the king shows them his mercy. For shame, for shame..." The loyalist paused and the smaller man approached him.
"Yo! He'd have you all unravel at the sound of screams but the Revolution is comin', the have nots are gonna win this. It's hard to listen to you with a straight face." The small man started, speaking louder than the loyalist. I laughed a bit. I felt somebody tap my shoulder gently and I turned around to see the man with a beanie.
"I can't help but notice you aren't exactly disapproving of my friend." He said and I noticed that they both had Continental uniforms, including two more men. Of course, they were friends. That, and that it was the same voice that urged the smaller of the two to 'tear this dude apart'.
"I can't help but notice that you were the one to urge him up there in the first place. I am glad you did."
"For shame." The loyalist sniffed.
"For the revolution!" The other cried, being joined in but most of the crowd.
"For shame!" The loyalist screeched.
"For the revolution!" The whole crowd, including myself, cheered.
"Heed-" The loyalist started but much weaker.
"If you repeat yourself I'm gonna-" The rebel interrupted.
"Scream." They both said in unison.
"Honestly look at me. Please don't read!" The rebel interrupted again.
"Not your interest-"
"Don't modulate the key than not debate with me! Why should a tiny island across the tea regulate the price of tea?" The rebel asked, causing an uproar.
"Alexander please!" The man who tried to stop him yelled. Alexander turned his head.
"Burr, I rather be divisive than indecisive, drop the niceties!" He yelled and I saw redcoats filter in and the rebels pulled Alexander away while Burr fled as well. The guy with the beanie grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the redcoats as well and we left the scene quickly.
"You never cease to amaze us, Alexander!" The one with freckles laughed and clapped Alexanders back. Alexander smiled warmly at freckles and he turned to look at me.
"Who's your friend, Herc?"
"A revolutionary." He smiled and I rolled my eyes.
"I'm Y/N. And you guys are?"
"I'm Alexander Hamilton." The one who was arguing told me.
"John Laurens." Freckles said.
"Moi, c'est Lafayette." The one with a man bun smiled.
"Enchanté Lafayette," I said casually and he looked at me, surprised.
"You speak French?"
"Yes, I do."
"I'm Hercules Mulligan." Beanie smiled at me and I smiled back.
"It's nice to meet all of you. Thank you for all of your services." I told them, nodding and Hercules looked at me.
"If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it." He said and I felt myself blush a bit.
"First round is on me."
