You held your arms out as Hercules unrolled his measuring tape to take the lengths of your arms for your sleeves. You needed a new gown as you were getting dinner with your parents in a few weeks. So you went to see your courter. Your courter who you hoped would become your fiancé soon. Hercules loved you and you loved him, much like he trusted you and you trusted him. He trusted you enough with his position in among the rebels. He was a spy. You remembered the day he told you that truth.
You waltzed into Hercules shop. He told you he was back at his store and no longer on the battlefield. You were overjoyed. He was longer facing death and danger and disease every day. You stilled as you walked into his shop and saw him servicing a loyalist, a high ranking and well-known loyalist. Hercules was taking his measurements and making conversation with him. You cocked your head in confusion as the loyalist let some deeper and slightly important information slip. He didn't even seem to notice the mistake.
After the loyalist left, Hercules walked over to his desk and scribbled some information down on a piece of paper. Then he slipped the paper among others as if to hide it. Then he turned to you with a smile. You walked up to him and wrapped him in a hug and gave him a short kiss. "Why are you back? I thought you were helping the rebels."
"I am." He said with a smirk. "As a spy." He said without hesitation. But your eyes widened in horror.
"Hercules Mulligan!" You scolded him. "That's much more dangerous." You warned. "If anyone even suspects you're a spy, you could be killed."
"Well, I don't want you to worry." Hercules soothed and pressed a kiss to your forehead. "I'll be around much more often and you can see me more. And if anyone suspects anything, well it's not a problem. It takes quite a bit to actually hurt or kill me." He said haughtily.
"Well, a rope will still kill you." You mourned in fear.
"Only worry about it if it comes to that. And if it does come to that, we'll see if the rope does kill me. But I'm not too worried." Hercules said.
Hercules never explained what he meant by that conversation and it didn't calm you down either. It made you worry more that Hercules wasn't afraid to be hung. But you never said anything. You knew Hercules would tell you the same thing he said that day. And it wouldn't do you or the rebels any good to make Hercules worry or paranoid.
"And that's all I needed," Hercules said as rolled up the measuring tape once more. "I'll get that done as quickly as I can, I know it's for dinner with your parents." You smiled, Hercules hardly ever forgot anything. "You'll be gone all night right?" He asked.
"Probably. Dinner is at my parents home and since dinner will most likely run late, I'll just stay at home with my parents." You affirmed.
"Alright. Just...stay careful tomorrow." He advised.
"Is this a Son's of Liberty thing?" You asked in a whisper. Hercules always advised your safety when his fellow...rebels were planning something.
"No babe," Hercules reassured you, not speaking in a whisper. "It's a full moon. You know the stories of wolves tramping around." He said with a slightly teasing smirk.
"Yeah...they were fairy tales in London. The must have crossed the ocean with us." You said. "But all those were just fairy tales. I'll be alright, besides I probably won't leave the house late anyway." You stood on your toes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He closed his eyes and savored the feeling. You stayed with Hercules at his shop for a while. You looked over all the information he collected recently. You were shocked at what people let slip.
