Daddy, how did you and Mommy meet?" I couldn't help but smile as I overheard my daughter, my second child, innocently ask. I had overheard the question as I passed my husband's study. It was nearly nine o'clock and neither of my children was in bed yet. I had been searching for them and it appears I've already found one of them. "Yeah, Dad! How did you meet her?" My son chimed in. I stand corrected, I have found both of my children.

I slowly cracked the door to the study open, avoiding making any noise. I peeked through the opening to see my husband sitting in his chair, both of our darling children in his lap. He looked down at them, a fond smile on his face. "When I first met your mother time stopped." Samuel started. My daughter let out a little gasp, her eyes sparkling, my son, on the other hand, let out a groan. "Dad, don't be cheesy, how did you and Mom really meet?"

"No, I'm being completely serious. When I met your mother time literally stopped. And this is how it happened." I smiled back as my husband jumped into his view of the night we met. I thought back to it myself.

I let out a huff as my skirts swished around me due to my quick pace. My mother just had to throw this party, didn't she? She just had to invite a bunch of treacherous rebels too didn't she? "Oh, but Honey! We have to find you a suitable courter!" Her words still ran in my ears. Bit of advice, Mother, don't invite a bunch of rebels to a party if you want me to find a courter. You may not care either way about the inevitable war but I do. I think anyone who's against the king is a fool.

What has thrown me into such a foul mood though? Well, one of those traitors didn't know how to take a hint. Even though I had clearly told him I wasn't interested he kept flirting with me. What disgusting creatures some men can be. I don't even really know where I'm going I'm so angry. The only thing I know is that I'm getting as far away as possible from that man. I stormed right out of the house and into the garden.

Most nights the garden is a quiet and tranquil place, and tonight it's no different, even with the handful of people socializing out here. The cool night air not only cooled down my body but it also helped extinguish my anger. Soon enough I felt perfectly at peace. The garden at any time but especially at night had a way of putting my mind at peace.

A sudden thought entered my mind as I looked down at the yellow flowers at my feet. 'Where did the wind go?' The light breeze that had existed only moments ago had disappeared. The flowers no longer danced in its wake, it no longer tugged at my hair or played with my skirts. Even the merry conversations that had been going on seemed to dissipate.

My eyes trailed upward to see that the men and women were frozen in place. Some had their mouths open as though they were in the middle of adding to the conversation they were taking part in. It was almost like the god of time decided to let it stop for who knows how long.

My heart rate sped up and my breath decided it wanted to stay in place in my throat. This was the moment I've dreamed of. The moment I've been dreaming of ever since the first moment I heard of soulmates as a child. I was about to meet my soulmate, the one I've been waiting for. For some time I thought I would never meet my soulmate, especially now because my mother is searching for a courter for me.

I surveyed the garden looking for someone else who was moving, but there was no one. I moved forward a few steps but found I could go no farther than that. I continued looking around hoping for a glance of my soulmate, and that's when I saw him. I watched him in wonder, he walked around a man who had previously been obscuring him from my vision.

My soulmate was so cute. He had short brown hair and fair skin. He wasn't too tall or too short; he was just the right height to be taller than me but not tower over me. His caramel like eyes sparkled in curiosity, a smile pulled at his soft looking lips.

My breath hitched in my throat as my soulmate looked in my direction. Our eyes met and I felt like sparks had started flying. Just like that time resumed. People started talking again and the breeze picked up once more.

I rushed from where I stood over to my soulmate. Even if I wanted to I couldn't stop myself from smiling widely. This is amazing! My heart is beating so fast and I've almost forgotten how to breathe. The night I'm supposed to find a courter I find my soulmate. For once, luck seems to be on my side.

"Hello, my name is Samuel Seabury. What would your name happen to be, my soulmate?" He introduced himself, his tone friendly. "My name is (Y/n) (L/n). It's a pleasure to meet you." I said with a soft and genuine smile. It's the first genuine smile I have given someone all night. He gently grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on my knuckles, just like a gentleman. "Would you like to accompany me on a walk around the courtyard?" Samuel asked, offering me his arm. "I would love to."

I dreamily sighed as my husband finished up his story. That was one of the best nights of my life. My husband and kids directed their attention to me, seems they heard me. "Seems your mother has found us. We were just talking about you, (Y/n)." Samuel said with a smile. "I'm aware, I've been here for the whole story," I said, sending my own smile back. "But, now the story is finished. It's time for your kids to go to bed. It's late." The kids let out sounds of disappointment but still got up and headed for their rooms. After all, when Mom says it's time for bed it's time for bed.

Not too long later Samuel and I were checking in on the kids. Both were peacefully sleeping. Now that the two of us were both in our bed now I was no longer tense, I was completely relaxed. Throughout the day I'm always so stressed about the things I have to get done and on top of that, I'm taking care of the kids while Samuel is gone at work. I let out a content sigh and cuddled closer to him. Even if it can get hectic and chaotic my life been so very blessed.
