I sighed as my roommate Angel helped me pack up all of my clothes into bins. "Corinne you really don't have to transfer all the way across the country do you?" Angel asks and picks up her phone. I've been doing most of the work because she is trying to prolong the process as much as humanly possible. "It's not transferring Angel, I'm just going to USC for a year and I'll be back before you know it," I reply and label the box I just finished. "You could've gone to a school in state," she argues. "Tennessee doesn't have what I need, If I'm gonna do it I'm gonna experience something new," I respond and she just sighs again. "I have to be at the airport at 8:00 so can you help me take this stuff to my car?" I ask and she rolls her eyes. "Where's Anthony?" She asks. "We broke up," mumble and she gasps. "Seriously?? Why?" She asks dramatically. "Because I don't love him, and I don't want any strings attached," I reply and she seems disgusted. "Okay you're going insane, Ms. California girl," she says and leaves the room to take a box outside. Once we get everything inside we drive to the airport silently and I'm biting my lip the whole time to keep my tears from falling, I said goodbye to my family yesterday which honestly is a little easier than this. She pulls up to my terminal and we take all of my things out of the car and a worker comes to help. "Well I guess this is it," she says with tears flowing. I finally let mine out and we hug for what seems like years. "I love you Angel," I whisper. "I love you too Corinne, see you soon, and don't enjoy it too much," she says and swiftly gets in her car. Watching her drive away, my heart physically hurt and I could feel my anxiety building up. "Miss? Are you ready?" I hear a foreign voice say and I snap out of my trance. "Yes," I mutter and wipe the last of my tears away and head to security and essentially the next chapter of my life. The next 7 hours are a blur, I arrive in the LAX airport and one of my roommates, a girl with pink hair, is there waiting with a sign that reads "Corinne, USC." "Hi, I'm Corinne," I say and hold out my hand but she goes in for the hug instead. "Hi! So nice to meet you!" She says and I'm uncomfortable but also relieved that she isn't a bitch. After hauling everything to the car we are exhausted. "I can't believe you brought so much stuff," she says as we pull out of the airport. "Yeah me neither," I reply while texting everyone that I arrived safely. "Hey it's okay, I would have too if I was moving across the country," she says with a big smile, revealing her braces. "Your hair is so beautiful and natural, completely opposite of me... wow I never even told you my name, I'm Cierra!" She says and shakes my hand. I can't help but smile at how energetic she is. I do look completely opposite to her, she's pale, blue eyed and pink haired while I have light brown hair, hazel eyes, and a little bit of a tan to my skin. In about an hour we arrive at the USC campus, which is gorgeous. When we pull up to the apartment, two other girls are waiting at the doors, one is blonde, the other has black hair but they are both so pretty. I get out and they all gather around me. "Hi!! I'm Rowan and this is Kate," the one with black hair exclaims and I shake their hands nervously. "I'm Corinne, nice to meet you," I say shyly with my best smile. "Cmon girls, Corinne here has a lot of stuff!" Cierra yells from the trunk. We all rush to help her and carry all of my things to my bedroom upstairs. We all chat for awhile and I learn that they are all in the same Sorority, Zeta. Usually I hate sororities, and Zeta is pretty wild but I'm trying my best not to be judgmental. "There's a party tonight at a frat house, you should come!" Kate says and I can't say no. "Okay, I'll be ready soon," I say but I have no idea what I have just gotten myself into.
