Chapter 3

At 6:00 my alarm goes off and I immediately remember all the events of the past night. I hop in the shower and get myself ready for David to pick me up. I throw on a sweatshirt and leggings with a pair on converse and hear a knock at the door. I run downstairs and open the door and he flashes a smile. "So what do you have to do so early?" I ask as we walk to his car. "I need you to reply to my emails while we ride to the airport, I have to go visit a fan in the hospital in Washington," he says as we drive off campus. "Wait what!" I almost yell. "Calm down I'll teach you how to respond to the emails, my last assistant was a quick learner," he explains. "No, David I'm not prepared to go so Washington state today!" I exclaim and he shakes his head. "Listen Corinne I need you to be able to go with the flow, so I'm going to pick up Jason and we are getting on the flight," he says and I'm in disbelief. We stop at a big house and Jason and a crazy looking girl with blonde hair gets in the back seat. "Wow David did you finally get over Liza?" She asks and David's face turns bright red. "Who is Liza?" I ask and the girl gasps. "Oh no one, I'm Trisha, Jason's girlfriend!" She says and shakes my hand. "This is David's new assistant, Corinne," Jason says and I give a half smile while answering all of David's business emails. We board the plane and David is editing the whole time. "So who is Liza?" I ask and he seems startled. "Oh that's my ex girlfriend," he responds and I can tell I've hit a nerve. "Long relationship huh?" I ask and he nods. "Yeah, I thought I was going to marry her, it didn't work out," he says and I feel bad for asking. "What about you? Why'd you come all the way?" He asks and actually seems interested now. I'll admit he's super cute. "Well I am a film student and there is more opportunity down here," I reply and he seems impressed. "I knew you were special when I saw you," he says and I can feel my face turning red but his does too so it makes me feel better. "I think I've answered all of your emails and forwarded all business inquiries to your manager," I reply and he seems satisfied. "Thanks," He says and lays his head down. "How old are you?" I ask and he opens his eyes and I can tell he wants to sleep. "I'm 20, you?" He asks and closes his eyes again. "18," I reply and close mine too, there's an hour left on this plane anyways. I wake up and my head is resting on David's shoulder and he is scrolling thorough Instagram. "I'm so sorry," I say and sit up immediately. "You're fine, just don't let it happen again," he says with a wink.

"Okay Corinne I need you to film all of this," David says quietly as he puts on a Spider-Man suite and Jason is wearing a Batman costume and Trisha is dressed as sexy batwoman. They walk in and the girl in the hospital bed seems very unimpressed but she is confused by me. "Anna honey wanna take some pictures with our guests?" Her mom asks and Anna says yes just to be nice. I take their picture and David takes off his mask and Anna screams and immediately starts crying. "I didn't think you would actually come!" She says and hugs Jason and Trisha too. "Of course we would come, this looks great for me," David jokes and everyone laughs. David has this infectious laugh, when you see him smile you can't help but smile too, or maybe that's just me. He tells me to turn the camera off and they have a nice conversation with the girl and she takes her own pictures. "Who is this?" She asks and suddenly everyone's eyes are on me. "Oh this is my new assistant, Corinne, isn't she pretty?" David asks and my cheeks immediately feel hot. "Yes... is that why you hired her?" The girl asks and everyone laughs. "That's a secret," David replies and now his cheeks are red. He gives me a wink and I don't know what to do with myself. I barely know anything about him, but I do know that he is charming as hell... oh and he gets A LOT of emails.
