I made it through the rest of the day by keeping my head down and never making eye contact, basically the worst cashier ever. But it was fine, I wasn't planning on keeping this job for too much longer.
I was moving into my apartment tomorrow, and I wanted to become independent as soon as possible. I was very thankful Jimin was helping me pay rent until I got a better job, but I still felt as if I was taking advantage of him.
I had seen ads looking for secretaries, and a few at child care centers. I'd probably start applying soon. I was hoping for a secretary position since it paid a bit more, but either would be great.
I trudged up the steps to the dorm, wishing I had taken the elevator.
I unlocked the door and pushed it open, expecting silence since the boys were still at practice.
I was pleasantly surprised.
"Hey, Naerin." Yoongi said to me, who had been walking past the front door when I had opened it.
"Hey. I thought you guys would still be at practice." I slipped my shoes off and hung up my coat.
"We convinced our dance instructor to let us come home early since it's your last day living here." He gave me a smile, then headed for the kitchen. I trailed after him, my eyes widening when I walked into the room.
There were decorations up, balloons hanging from the ceiling and dotting the floor. My name spelled out on a banner. And my favorite type of cake sitting on the counter.
"She's here!" Taehyung yelled when I entered, and the relatively quiet house immediately erupted into chaos.
"What? We aren't ready yet!"
"Jimin?! You said she got home at five!"
"She usually does. It's not my fault."
"Who was keeping watch?"
"Yoongi hyung."
"I think surprises are overrated anyway. Did someone make sure to buy wine?"
"If she's here, does that mean we can eat the cake?"
Now all seven of them were in the kitchen, arguing about their failed surprise party.
"Um, I was still surprised, even if you guys didn't get to do some grand reveal." I said to them as I headed towards Jimin, standing next to him and leaning on his shoulder.
"Okay...but cake?" Taehyung innocently pointed towards the dessert, a lighter in his hand.
Jimin pulled my towards the counter as Taehyung lit the candles.
"Guys...why does the cake say happy birthday?" I said, trying to hold back my laughter.
"That's the only type the store had." Jungkook responded, smiling and looking at the cake like it would solve world hunger. God, they were all so dramatic.
"Wait...what do we do if we don't sing happy birthday?" Hoseok asked, and everyone chuckled.
"I'll make a toast instead." Jimin said, wrapped an arm around my waist. Everyone turned towards us. "To Naerin, who was a wonderful addition to our home for the past few months. Thank you for putting up with us. We'll miss you."
"Cheers!"
Smiling, I leaned forward and blew out the candles.
The boys cheered, many of them immediately grabbing for the cake. Jimin left my side for a second, and returned with four bottles of wine.
"Do we really need this much?" I asked as I watched him pop the first one open.
"Trust me, bunny. We do."
I let myself relax for once, deciding that I wouldn't worry about anything until the morning. Right now, I wanted to enjoy spending time with all of them, before I moved out and they starting promoting their album.

We spent most of the next few hours in the living room, playing video games and watching movies. As we all kept drinking...things got more interesting.
At this point, Jimin was the only one who wasn't completely wasted. Which confused me, since he seemed to be drinking just as much as the rest of us.
"Jimin-ah, why aren't you drunk?" I asked, my voice slurred. I was sitting in between him and Namjoon on the couch.
"I've just been drinking wine, and you've had multiple shots of tequila, bunny." He was staring at me intently. "Anyway, someone has to stay at least relatively sober."
"I didn't know it was tequila." I mumbled, pouting. "Taehyung said it was water."
Jimin laughed, slinging an arm around my shoulder. I leaned into him.
"This reminds of the first time I saw you drunk. After the party we went to, remember?"
I hit his shoulder, but there was still a smile on his face.
"You get all confident when you're wasted, usually you hide when I mention stuff like that." He pinches my cheek.
"I will actually punch you in the face if you keep talking."
He laughed again, and I smiled despite myself.
"Can the two of you keep your hands off each other for five minutes? Come play with us!" Hoseok slurred from across the room, his face bright red. I'm sure I looked like a tomato as well.
"No!" I yelled back, snuggling closer to my boyfriend. Jimin chuckled and kissed the tip of my nose.
"Jimin-ah." I mumbled.
"Hm?"
"You're so handsome that it hurts to look at you."
Jimin choked on his wine, and Namjoon, who was still next to me, let out a laugh as well.
"I don't deserve you." I continued. "I still don't know why you ever fell in love with me. I have nothing to offer you." I rambled on, the alcohol in my system making me unable to control what came out of my mouth.
"Hey...don't say that. I could list a million reasons for why I love you." Jimin played with the ends of my hair.
"You don't have to lie to make me feel better."
"I'm not lying—"
"I'm sure you'll grow bored of me eventually. I'll miss you when you leave me for some other girl whose prettier and wealthier."
"Naerin. Stop. I don't want another girl, no matter what she looks like or how much money she has. I want you."
"You'll want an older girl, right? I'm so much younger then you. I'm not mature enough. You probably think I'm stupid. I didn't even go to university."
Jimin was looking at me with such sad eyes, tears beginning to form and slip down his cheeks.
"Ah! Why are you crying? Was it cause of something I said? I'm so sorry—"
"Stop." He whispered, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close.
I didn't understand. I had hurt him! Why was he hugging me?
He was too kind to me. I didn't deserve it.
