My eyes were heavy and drooping as I tried to open them. A sharp pain in the side of my head made my hand go to it instantly, red liquid was all over my fingers, the only thing I could see in this dingy room.

"Hello, Eunji."

My breathing stopped.

It was him again.

He was back.

"Dad?" I opened my eyes to see him crouching in front of me, he lifted me off my feet.

"Come on, let's get your head sorted out."

I let him lead me out of the room and into the corridor of what seemed like a normal house, classic wooden furniture and art hung on the walls, with ancient floral wallpaper behind it, heavily contrasting with the metal room I was just in.

He then opened a wooden door right at the end of the hallway and gently pushed me in. It was a pleasant looking room, with a sofa and tall some cupboards. Reaching into one, my father took out some disinfectant and came towards me. I flinched backwards.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, they weren't supposed to hurt you, don't worry I taught them a lesson."

"Dad? Why are you here?"

He looked taken back by my question as I stared at him. His hair was on the verge of grey and his deep brown eyes looked sad but still with the usual glimmer of malice in them. They terrified you.

"I came back for you of course." He smiled, fake or not, it made me feel so strange.

"But you left me, you left mum..." I was on the verge of tears, as I mustered the strength to carry on.

"Why would you choose this over us? Especially when you kidnap people just to get their attention, have you not heard of a phone call?"

"Sweetie, money makes the world go round, you'll learn soon enough. So what if I use a little bit of force along the way? It gets me what I want."

"I will never be like you." I stared him down as he sighed slightly. I could never forgive him for what he did, leaving us to build his business, SM industries. An empire with the foundations of crime and betrayal. It was better when he was unemployed but then he turned, like a switch, and was driven by his ambition and greed for money. He then left us because we were inconvenient.

"You're more like me than you like to imagine," he said with a haunting smile.

"I never will be like you," I hissed back, repeating myself.

"Sure sweetie, anyway I heard you've been hanging out with NCT?"

How the hell did he know about them? I shuddered as I thought he must have been watching me this whole time.

"Who?" I acted dumb.

"They work for me sweetie, I know everything."

So that's why they were nice to me, I feel betrayed even though I wasn't even close to them.

"They're dicks."

"Aha, well darling, you'll be spending a lot more time with them soon," his sinister chuckle sent shivers down your spine.

"W-What do you mean?"

"I can't have my darling daughter roaming around vulnerable, they shall be protecting you from now on."

"I'm fine by myself thanks," I uttered in disbelief. My head was still hurting but the bleeding had stopped.

"I'm afraid you have no choice, now let's get you home, don't want your mother worrying."

How dare he mention her, he was at fault for her misery.

"Let's go then," I said with disgust looking at the disgrace of a father in front of me.

Stepping outside the house I saw it's exterior, it almost looked cosy. What a fake disguise.

"Here's your driver, Eunjin."

I gaped at the boy in front of me.

Taeyong.

"Good evening, Mr Lee," he said lightly bowing, creasing his black suit.

"I'm not getting in a car with him," I replied stubbornly. As if he gets to glare at me at school and then put on a whole show when my father was around.

My father suddenly swung his fist at Taeyong as the poor boy fell to the floor, clutching his face, looking downwards at the blood covered gravel.

"I can't punish you so I'll punish him instead, now get in the car," my father said as he smiled sickly and turned away to go back inside.

I went over to Taeyong and helped pull him to his feet and to the car, I felt his heavy breathing next to my ear.

"Please, Ms Lee, I'm fine."

"For christ sake, call me Eunji and he's gone, so stop with the act."

Taeyong's hazel eyes looked at the shut front door of the house and then to mine.

"Get in the car," he said sternly and he shook away my grip.

With me sat in the passenger seat, Taeyong started the car and drove down the long, gravel driveway.

"I'm sorry about your face," I whimpered, looking at his bruised and a deep cut on his cheekbone, a result of my father's wrath.

"Better me than you."

My eyes were set on his hardened jaw as he said that. I can't believe he was acting like he even cared.

"Well, thank you..." I looked out the window at the gated houses on the street, admiring the perfectly sculpted gardens.

Taeyong dropped me off without any other words and I watched as he drove away. My heart ached because he got hurt as a result of my stupid behaviour.
