Jax and I finally got off the bus when we reached the downtown area.
"Next time, I swear I'm leaving you if you forget your wallet again." I muttered tired to Jax.
"Hey, It's not my fault my brother took it for pancake." Jax said defensively.
"If you had to pay me back for every dollar I spent on you it'll be better if you sell your soul."
"Can't... never had one."
"True."
We finally reached the game corner and looked at the massive line. The neon lights of the building still shining in the dark, chilling morning. The line had exited the store and was slowly growing.
"Come on. Let's sneak on back, you know Old Man Ronin is expecting us." Jax whispered to me.
"Alright, let's go."
Old Man Ronin is the owner who claims himself a samurai. He keeps blades under the token counter for people causing trouble. The cops always come asking to see if he has used it yet.
We reached the door and knocked. "Oye dingus GET IN LINE!" screeched from inside. "Hey it's me and Jax." I shouted. The locked click and a thin but strong arm reached out of the dark and yanked us inside. "How are my two favorite customers?" A firm but kind face asked us. "Hey boss. Anything needed done?" I ask the likable owner. He hires me to fix the games and electronics in exchange for favors. "As a matter a fact, yes. The new machines' local play still hasn't been synced together. If you set it up for me I'll get you both into the tournament later today."
"Deal."
He took me to the main part of the store and handed me a box of tools. The arcade machines were colored red with the logo a blazing blue. They were set up in a circle formation making it easier for others to watch the games in progress. We pushed one of the machines out of place enough for me to slip through into the jungle of cables on the ground.
I popped open the first machine to get a idea of where to start. Seeing that it was gonna be a little harder than normal I got to work.
