8. The News Report

           

"What the HELL did you think you think you were doing?" Luke shouted at me and Zach as we walked through the door.

"What?" I asked. He can't know what happened in the park. Was he spying on us?

"This!" He shouted and pointed into the living room. We followed him into the room and saw what was on the TV, the news.

"Yeah? So?" Zach said from behind me.

'The latest headlines, Rose, an upcoming model, has been seen caught doing things with a mysterious male in a field. The boy hasnt been identified so far. Who is the lucky lad? Why a field? More news on the story later'

"Oh. My God." I said and fell onto the sofa behind me. Harvey and Noah came up and sat either side of me.

"So, what? We didn't get caught?" Zach calmly said and sat in the armchair.

"Did you not just hear that? ROSE and mysterious male?" I said, emphasising the Rose.

"Yeah, just say it was a potential boyfriend or something? Jeez calm down" He said and stormed out of the room. Me and the other boys sat in a silence, awkward tension after he slammed his door shut.

"I'm going to my room" I quietly said.

"Rose," Luke started, catching my hand. I shook my head and took my hand out of his grip.

I woke up feeling worse than I did when I went to sleep. I had over slept, a lot. The clock said that it was 2pm, meaning that I had been asleep for around 14 hours.

"Rose?" A whisper spoke from the door. "Hey" Luke said when he realised that I was awake. I smiled at him.

"Hey" I replied in a groggy, sleepy voice. I went to sit up.

"No, don't sit up" he said and slipped into the bed next to me. "We went to the cinema, trying to calm Zach down and to forget everything. We wanted to take you but you looked shattered, so we left you asleep. Zach is upset, we aren't too sure why, nor will he tell us, but it'll be okay."

I nodded at him, not really listening. I felt hollow. I was worried for my job.

"We're  getting pizza  delivered later If you want to come and eat?" He asked and kissed my temple.

"You know what, I think I'm going to nip to the office. I'm sure I'll have to do some damage control." He nodded, stroked my hair against my face and walked out the room.

I pulled on a JW dress that I had once worn for a photoshoot and french plaited my hair in two plaits. I applied light makeup and grabbed a denim jacket and some vans.

Once I was ready, I picked up my phone that was on my bedside table, on silent. I unlocked it and saw two calls from my manager, Charlotte, and three messages. The first one was questioning me about the reports, the second was asking me why I wasn't replying and the third was asking me to go into work. I cursed and shoved my phone into my bag.

I walked down the stairs. And heard all the boys in the living room but slipped out the front door before they could attack me. I wasn't ready for the loud noise yet, aka Lewis.

I drove to work, a little faster than I usually would, trying to make it there before charlotte went home. I ran into work and straight up to Charlotte's office. I knocked on the door and heard her soft voice shout for me to go in. I walked in, and her face looked shocked as I walked in.

"Oh,Rose" she said, startled.

"Hey" I said and went over to the sofa in her office. Charlotte moved with me from the other company to this one. We got on so well, so she took me with her. We became best friends, it was weird, her being my boss and my best friend, but it worked.

"What happened" She asked.

"Just tell me what's happening with my job" I pleaded. She laughed at me and rolled her eyes.

"Oh please, babe you're the best one here. You didn't seriously think you'd have anything happen to your job" she said and laughed at me. "Who was he?" She asked.

"Right, so, seeing as you're my best friend, if I tell you something do you promise to keep it a secret?" I asked her. She nodded at me, edging closer to me in excitement.

I told her everything. From the start. The fact I lived there for a couple of weeks, and what happened last time. And to now, when I got asked to move back in, and what I do. I said about the house, and described each of the boys, and what I do. When I finished, she was both shocked and excited.

"That's cool if you ask me" Charlotte said, walking across the room to look out of her window. "You're like a cool hooker" She said and winked at me.

"Shut up, they're just friends, who I have fun with" I finished off. She laughed at me and sat at her desk.

"Well, I am not bothered. Do what you want" She said and opened a tab on her laptop.

"That's it? I have felt hollow since I saw the report because I thought you'd get rid of me" I said, feeling my face going red with embarrassment. Charlotte stood up and walked over to me.

"I love you, you're my best friend. If anything the report gave you the media that is needed to really get you out there, you'll be snatched up by Victorias Secret soon. I am just glad you've told me now, so you can carry on telling me the goss" she winked at me. "Now. You're coming in tomorrow, yes? I am in and I want to be here while you do the pile of clothes you have for this week"

"I'll definitely be in tomorrow, I came in Sunday to start prepping but Toby had already done the most of it for me, bless him. But I'll come in the next couple of days, until I've done for this week" I said and looked at the time. It was 4 so I had better be going.

Charlotte walked to me car with me as she was leaving now as well. We shouted bye to the rest of the team and walked to the cars. Just as Charlotte was about to walk over to her car, she said "Hey Rose, I could always do with a cool hooker every now and then," and winked at me.

I climbed into my car, shocked, and started up my car. Did she want to get with me? Seeing as I didn't understand I just drove home without giving it a second thought.

I walked through the door, so much happier than when I'd left.

"Rooooosseeee" Lewis shouted as I walked in the living room. I winced at the noise but went over and sat in the arm chair with him as he had a margarita pizza.

"Hey guys" I said. All five boys were in the living room, eating the pizza they'd bought.

"How was work?" Luke asked. All the other four boys looked up at me, wanting to know the answer.

"So good, Charlotte didn't really care. She said it 'gets me in the media'" I said and laughed. The other boys all discussed it between themselves and I just watched the tv and ate the pizza.

The evening went by in a blur. I just sat, staring into space. The boys played on the Xbox until they decided that it was time to go to bed as they were all going into uni tomorrow I believe. We all decided to make our way upstairs to bed.
