I try to open my eyes but the second I do the bright white light forces them close again. "Am I dead?" I wonder as I open my eyes again, slowly this time giving myself a chance to adjust to the light. When I am finally able to see clearly, I look around to see that I am I'm some sort of medical room. The room is floor to ceiling white with a set of white cabinets in one corner opposite me and a small metal stool sitting next to the hospital bed where I am. I try to sit up but am immediately forced lying down again by a sudden rush of nausea as the big metal door next to the cabinets opens. In walks in a tall, intimidating, fierce looking man. He had dark skin and no hair, an eye patch over one eye and a long black leather trench coat. Following closely behind him is Phil, he smiles at me as he enters and closes the door behind him while the menacing man sits down on the stool by me. "Are you feeling better?" he asks, his deep voice reminding me of the sound of a truck rumbling past. "Um.. I think so? I'm really confused...." I say slowly, tears welling up in my eyes from thinking about all that has happened. "Well I'll give you a little explanation. My name is Director Fury and I ran a government agency known as SHEILD. I'm sure you've heard of the Avengers? Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow, all agents of ours." Fury tells me in a very 'matter of fact' way. "Well why am I here?" I question quietly, "I'm not sure you've fully realized it yet, but you killed 300 students at your school without any effort. That kind of power is dangerous if you were left to handle it on your own." Fury says. I feel myself starting to tremble with anxiety "that was real! I killed them! I KILLED THEM ALL WHAT HAVE I DONE!?" I'm trying not to let my panic completely take over as Fury continues to talk "So we at SHEILD are going to take you into our custody, you will live in residence in a place where you can't hurt anyone accidentally and if you can learn to control your abilities then you will be given a position on our team." Coulson stands there behind Fury and I am speechless. After a moment of staring at either Fury or Phil I am able to form words "W-will I be a-able to learn t-to control I-it?" I say shakily. "That's what we are going to find out" says Fury as he stands up "Once you are ready you will meet the team." He says curtly and then turns and leaves the room. I let out an enormous sigh as Phil puts his arm on my shoulder "I'm never going to get out of here am i? I'm a monster and you guys are just going to run cruel tests on me like in the movies, aren't you?" I spill out, looking up at Phil with a blank stare. He chuckled slightly and patted my shoulder like a father would with his daughter "No we aren't going to do that, there may be some tests but nothing you won't have to do if you don't want to, don't worry, you're in good hands Helena." he says smiling warmly. "There are clothes in those cabinets for you to wear until we figure out what else you want, when you are ready just come out into the hall and I'll take you to meet the team." "Ok" I answer as I get up to go to the cabinets. Once Phil has left I take a look through what it is that they have for me to wear, praying it would be something oversized that would hide the fact that I am skin and bones. No such luck, I am greeted with a pair of black skinny jeans and a fitted white t-shirt. "They couldn't manage something to cover my skeleton arms?" I grumble quietly. I take off my hospital gown and slip on the clothes that were there for me, using the small mirror in the corner I try to tame my thick black hair with my fingers to no avail. I look down at myself I'm these new clothes, both the shirt and pants are an extra small and yet they both still are too big for me. the jeans hang off my hips and I keep having to pull up the waist band whereas the tshirt hangs over my bony frame loosely. Looking down I can't stop a melancholy sigh as I see the red lines of cuts and scars on a canvas of black, blue, purple, and yellow bruises. Knowing that there was no way to hide it I just pluck up my courage and walk out the door.
"Ready to go?" asks Phil who waits outside as I close the door behind me.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I saying looking down at the floor as we walk down the long cold hallway.
After what seems like hundreds of twists and turns we reach an enormous metal doorway, Phil types in a number to the small keypad next to the door and it whooshes open!
"Let's go?" Phil says. "Ok"
As I walk in I already hear people talking.
"He killed 80 people in two days." says a woman's voice, sounding slightly annoyed.
"He's adopted?" says another voice, a deep males voice.
Then I see them, all of them sit around a large glass table, I recognize some of them from the news, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Steve Rogers. The others I do not recognize.
"Guys I have someone to introduce to you." Phil announces.
