Almost a week later and Sara still has not been able to find a suitable home for us closer to the hospital - I have been helping her look for places, although most of the homes going for cheap rent look like they are about to fall apart, and the other half of the homes are still too expensive, or they don't want any kids staying on the property.

It hasn't been easy travelling the long distances to the hospital and back, it takes a toll on all of us especially Matt. Which is why they decided to look for a place closer; the side effects on Matt's body from the new treatments isn't going so well. Frankly it has me concerned a lot more than I usually am.

Once at the hospital the nurses prepare Matt for his treatment as the doctor carefully explains to him what to expect during the treatment. Once they are ready to begin Sara says goodbye to Matt as she walks off with the doctor and I follow Matt and the nurse into the next room.

The nurse pushes Matt in the wheelchair next to a bed and then turns to him, "I will be right with you." With that she walks into the next room.

Matt lightly squeezes my hand to get my attention, so I kneel down beside him forcing a smile on my face; I can see he sees right through it though.

"Rose, I'll be okay."

I avoid his gaze as I respond, "I know. This treatment will work, I just know it."

He cups my face in his one hand forcing me to look at him. "When you start to avoid my gaze then I know you are doubting things."

I close my eyes and take a hold of his hand on my face. "I'm just afraid of what this treatment might do to you, it's already not starting off great."

Tears begin to build up in my eyes as he comforts me, "it will be worth it in the end, I promise."

I jolt back up as the door opens and the nurse walks back in. "We are ready to begin."

Matt looks up at me reassuringly and I give his hand a tender squeeze.

"I'll see you later Matt."

Once I catch up to Sara, I wait for her to finish up with the doctor before we head off to look at more places for rent.

After a few hours of searching, we start heading back to the hospital.

"I know we will eventually find a place. We just need to stay positive." Sara looks over at me noticing that I didn't hear her speak, "Rose?"

I stop my observation of the passing scenery as we start to pass the cemetery. "Sorry, did you say something?"

Ignoring my question, she responds, "he'll make it through this sweetie."

"What if it doesn't work? What if he goes through all this pain for nothing? Experimental treatment always has a low success ratio."

"Don't lose hope Rose, he'll-" Sara looks over to an elderly man hammering in a 'for rent' sign in front of an old Victorian house. "Here's a place we can look at. It's really big so I doubt it will be cheap."

She stops the car in front of the man and gets out addressing him, "I don't want to waste your time, but how much you asking?"

The man looks over to me and then to Sara before smiling, "I'll give you the first month free if I don't have to finish hammering in this darn sign."

The elderly man offers to take us on a tour of the house; as we walk in through the front door an eerie sense floats through me, giving me an unsettling feeling. I run my hand softly along the walls as the house croaks and strains from old age.

The old man speaks as he gives us the tour, "just needs some love and care and a good family to bring it back to life."

Sara questions, "so you don't mind children?"

"Where would we be without them."

Sara looks over to me. "It's perfect, I mean it's everything we need. It's spacious and affordable." She then addresses the old man again, "I'm just wandering where's the catch?"

He shrugs as he responds, "well... it does have a bit of a history."

Once we are back on the road again Sara asks, "what do you think of the house?"

I look over at her uneasily. "You're right it is everything we need, but..."

Sara smirks, "is it the feeling that's bugging you? Sweetie, it's probably just your mind playing tricks on you once he told us what the house was used for."

I shake my head slightly. "No. I felt that the moment I walked into the house. Maybe we should see if we cannot find another place first."

Sara slowly comes to a stop by a payphone. "Maybe you are right. Before we get to the hospital, let me just phone Peter and see what he says."

Sara heads to the payphone and dials in the home number. While she speaks to Peter a dark cloud can be seen out the corner of my eye, I look over to stare the observer in the eyes; He is filled with grey smoke and his lip keeps twitching upwards as he bears through my soul with his eyes. My only focus is on him until a car comes speeding passed and snaps me out of my trance.

I look over to Sara who is still speaking to Peter, the booths door is open slightly and I can overhear her saying to him, "I saw one that was almost perfect, but... it's just... Rose feels it just wasn't right."
