I get up the next morning, not having rested well from the previous night. After seeing that shadow in the television, it ended up spooking me more than I'd like to admit.

I walk out to the front porch where Sara stands staring out in a daze. "Morning."

She looks over to me with a smile before replying, "morning. You're up early."

"I couldn't sleep much during the night."

"Sorry, I know you feel uneasy about the house." She places her arm around my shoulder and pulls me in for a quick squeeze. "Maybe just give it a few days. The feeling might wear off."

I nod in response, "I'm going to see if Matt is awake yet."

I walk back into the house where Matt is still sleeping, I quietly sit down next to him. I get a small fright though as Matt bolts up and looks over at me confused. I place a hand on his cheek, "morning, are you okay? I didn't wake you, did I?"

He looks down and then back up at me again as he replies, "no, just a bad dream."

He attempts to smile at me reassuringly, but I don't buy it. However, I don't press him on the matter for now. "Okay, well I'm going to get something to eat. You should too."

"Yeah, I'll be right there."

I lean towards him to give him a kiss and then I get up to go get food.

I walk into the kitchen and lean against the cabinet as Sara takes a protein shake out for Matt. "Any leftovers from last night?"

She turns to me as Matt enters the kitchen. "Just a small amount. I'll go into town a little bit later and buy some groceries." She then addresses Matt, "pick of the house. Okay, any bedroom you and Rose want, if you drink this."

Matt goes over to the fridge and takes out another protein shake for his mother. She grabs the can and shrugs it off, "they not that bad."

Matt chuckles as he opens his can. "Keep telling yourself that."

"Alright, cheers."

I question his mother, "you ever had one?"

Sara takes a sip from the can and then starts laughing, "okay, yeah. They are bad." We all burst out laughing as Matt continues to finish off his shake.

Once Matt is done, I grab hold of his hand and I giddily pull him upstairs. "Okay Mister, let's pick out our room." We make our way to the first bedroom at the top of the stairs. "I'll let you pick which one."

He chuckles as we make our way to the second room, "is there a condition to this reasoning of yours?"

I grin at him as I lace my fingers through his again. "No, this time you're lucky. But only this time."

He pulls me in closer and places a kiss on my forehead as we exit the second room. We walk further down the hallway as we laugh quietly to ourselves. He motions towards an old service door at the end of the corridor. "Hey, check that out." He walks over to it and tries to open it; it slowly starts to budge and then with a moan opens fully.

We both peer down the dark hole as Matt takes a coin out of his pocket. He throws it down the hole as I question, "I wonder which room it leads to."

He replies mischievously, "let's go find out."

I tug on his hand eagerly as we make our way down the stairs to the basement room.

"This is spacious, and it has its own bathroom as well. If you ever feel like joining me in the shower." I wink at him as I pull him closer to me.

He places a lingering kiss on my lips before twirling me out and spinning me around. He then pulls me closer to him again and places his arms around my waist, his smile wavering.

I place my hands on his chest. "What's wrong?"

He shakes his head. "I dreamt about this room last night."

"Is that the bad dream you were having?" He nods his head slightly before looking away from me. "Matt, we don't have to stay in this room if you don't want to. There are so many other rooms to choose from."

He quickly responds looking at me again, "no, no. I feel like we should take this room. I didn't say I don't like it."

I smile broadly at him. "Well alright then. I'll move our stuff in here once your Dad brings it through."

Just then we hear Sara call out, "Matt! Matt, did you guys find a bedroom?"

He kisses me softly on the forehead and then answers his mother, "yeah we did."

Shortly afterwards she comes walking down the stairs as she removes the yellow rubber cleaning gloves. Matt looks around the room while still holding me. "Well, it kind of picked me."

Sara looks at us confused. "What do you mean it picked you?"

Matt jokingly replies as he let's go of me and shrugs, "I don't know, it's the meds. I don't know what I'm talking about."

Sara stops next to me and asks, as if not wanting to believe that we would want to stay down here, "well which bedroom?" Matt gestures around him as he looks at his mother. She looks at us in disbelief, "down here? No."

Matt tries reasoning with his mother, "c'mon, look it's nice and cool. And best is it's got its own private bathroom, nobody has to hear me."

Sara glances over at the bathroom uncertain about our choice. "Honey, you don't have to hide from us."

"The fact that everybody can hear me puking, just makes me feel worse. It's bad enough already that Rose has to hear me."

I protest pretending to be hurt by his words, "hey!"

We laugh among ourselves as Matt walks over to the door partitioning the room in half and turns the knob, when the door doesn't budge, he tries to push it open with a few small nudges, however it still doesn't give way. Sara walks around a little wary as she surveys the rest of the room.

We all end up slowly making our way over to the wall dividing the room. We cup our hands on the window and try to peer in, Matt questions, "what do you think is back there?"

Sara responds, "I don't know."

I focus a little harder as what appears to be a ghostly figure standing in the room catches my attention, this time his eyes red with fire. Seconds later we all jump in fright as someone knocks loudly on the front door. Sara turns to Matt laughing as we hear Peter shouting from upstairs, "Hello!"

She turns around making her way to the stairs as Peter continues shouting, "anybody home!"

Sara shouts back to Peter, "we're down here!"

As Sara disappears upstairs, I turn to Matt still laughing, "God that scared me."
