For My Sister

Chapter Eight

I went back inside the house and sat on the couch. Jace was the only one still in the living room. I could tell he wanted to ask me if I was okay, but didn't want to upset me.

"You don't have to be afraid to talk to me, Jace" I say.

"I-I just don't want to upset you" He says. I sat down next to him.

"You won't" I say. He smiles. "I know that I can't really stress over anything right now because of the baby. The baby is what's getting me through this".

"He would have been an incredible father" He says. I smile up at him.

"Yes, he would have" I say. Jace pauses for a second.

"You know...He wanted to marry you" He says. "He's wanted to marry you since we were kids. He's been in love with you since we were kids".

"I wanted to marry him too" I say looking down at the ground.

"I'll help you raise that baby" He says. I smile up at him.

"Jace, you know, Danielle loves you like I love Sawyer" I say. I remebered how Dani and I had that conversation on the down before Sawyer was killed.

"I know she does. And, I love her" He says. I look him in the eyes.

"Will you promise me something?" I ask.

"What?" He questions.

"Marry her" I say. "Even when the days are long and rough, love her. Be the family Sawyer and I wanted to be. Can you promise me that?".

"G, I fully intend on doing just that" He says. I smile and lean my head on his shoulder. He kisses my forehead lightly.

***Dani's POV***

Jade and I were sitting outside on the front porch. I could see Jace and Georgianna sitting in the living room. I looked over at them only to see him kiss her forehead. He has never been that way with her before, so I kind of thought it was weird, but atleast it wasn't on the mouth.

"Earth to Dani" I hear Jade say. I guess I got really caught up staring at Georgianna and Jace.

"What? Sorry" I say snapping back into reality.

"You okay?" She asks. I wasnt about to tell her that I saw Jace kiss Georgianna's forehead.

"Uh, yeah. Just thinking of Sawyer" I lie.

"Is it weird that I don't want to let Wren out of sight?" She asks.

"Don't you dare even begin to think that something like that is going to happen to Wren, or anybody else for that matter, okay?" I say. Anytime she and I had heart to hearts they usually ended with one of us crying.

"It's hard not to think about, though" She says. "And, on top of that, it's not fair. Why would something like that happen to Sawyer? Or even Georgia and the baby?".

"I-I don't know, but you know everything happens for a reason. It might seem unfair, but it happened because God has a plan and you know that" I say.

"Yeah, I know. I just wish I knew what that plan was" She says.

"I heard someone say in a movie once 'What's done in the dark always comes to light'. I think that's a phrase you need to remember" I say.

"Are you saying that whatever happened to Sawyer will eventually come out?" She asks.

"I hope it does, but then there's that part of me that doesn't want to know at all who did it" I say looking out to the dock.

"W-Who do you..." She didn't even finish her sentence. I could tell she want scared to ask the question.

"I think that...Sawyer was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I've tried to think of a better explanation than that, but I can't" I say.

"I hope we find out something. Just for Georgianna's sake" She says.

"Yeah, but she's a strong girl. She'll get through it" I say. I turned and looked inside at she and Jace on the couch again. They were talking, laughing, and smiling. I hadn't seen her smile like that since she told Sawyer about the baby.

"Yeah, she will" She says. In that moment, Morgan walked outside and sat down with us.

"Did you see Jace got her smiling again?" She says. "I haven't seen ber smile like that in a while".

"Yeah, he's probably just trying to get her kind off of things" I say.

"Watch out, Dani. She might steal your man" Jade jokes.

"Oh, I'm worried sick" I say. I obviously wasn't. I knew Jace and Georgianna well eniught to know that would never happen. I got up and started to walk inside. I knew in my head that what Jade said was a joke, but I couldn't get the thought out of my head.

I walked inside and walked over to the couch.

"Oh, Hey, Dani" Georgianna says. I ignored the comment and walked straight to Jace and kissed his lips aggressively. I completely ignored Georgianna's comment and walked away right after kissing him. I had no clue why I did that, but I did.

A few hours later, I was exhausted and ready to go to bed. Ever since everything with Sawyer happened, I haven't been able to sleep without Jace, but I couldn't find him. I walked into the living room and saw Morgan sitting by the fire place with a sketchbook.

"Hey, where's Jace?" I ask.

"I think he and Georgia went for a walk, but I could be wrong" She says.

"A walk? Seriously?" I ask. I knew she was going to be able to tell that in was annoyed. I started to walk out the back door, but she stopped me.

"Hey, what's going on?" She asks.

"Nothing" I lie.

"Danielle, I know when you're lying" She says. "After Jade made that joke this afternoon, you've been weird all day. G said you completely ignored her earlier". I sigh and sit down next to her.

"You...You don't think that there could be...something...there, do you?" I ask. She looked at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Between Jace and Georgia?" She asks. I stayed silent. "Oh, Dani, you know that is absolutely insane to think. She just lost her boyfriend and the father of her child. She's too sad to even sleep in her bed let alone try to find another man. And, she would never, ever do that to you. If you think she would, that's really-".

"Crappy! I know! I-I don't know why I even let it bother me" I say.

"Everybody gets jealous, but don't worry about something ever happening like that" She says. I look down at the floor.

"Well, I'm just going to gi to bed. Tell Jace when they come back in" I say. She nods.

I get up and start to walk towards my bedroom. I noticed that Georgianna's bedroom door was open, which was strange because what Morgan said was tight. She hadn't slept in her room since Sawyer died. I carefully opened the door and peeked in. What I saw made me forget everything that Morgan had just told me. Lying in Georgianna and Sawyers bed was Geogianna and Jace.
