After yelling at Jade like I did, I spent most of the rest of the day with Georgianna. She wasnt feeling Well, so we laid in bed all day watching TV and talking about life. She was obviously hurting over the baby, and I was over Jade and Jace, so we were the perfect company for one another."So, you really yelled at her like that?" She asks. I had just told her what I had said to Jade.
"Yeah. I don't really know what came over me. I just got on a tangent and kept going" I say.
"You're hurt, so its understandable" She says.
"Yeah, I know" I say. "What about you? Are you doing okay?".
"Yeah, I-I've come to terms with it. I mean, I loved my baby, but I guess I wasn't ready to be a mom" She says.
"I don't believe that, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason" I say.
"What do you think the reason Jade and Jace hooked up is?" She asks. I looked away from her.
"I-I don't know. Why does anyone ever cheat?" I ask.
"Dani, you know they didn't mean for it to happen. Jace loves you more than anyone that I've ever known. And, Jade. Jade thinks the world of you. You know she would never intentionally hurt you like that. What you said to her can't be worse than what she's probably saying to herself" She says. I knew she was probably right. Jade and I had never had a fight in our lives.
"I know that, but it doesn't change what happened" I say.
"Dani, you have made mistakes. Need I remind you of your and Jace's snapchat escapades and sneaking around behind his girlfriends back before they broke up?" She asks. I couldn't help but smile thinking anout how stupid Jace and I used to be. Jade was the person I told all that too. I remember our countless conversations about how she was going to murder him with a baseball bat of he ever hurt me. Funny how she's the reason he hurt me.
"Yeah, you're right" I say. I was starting to feel bad about everything that bad happened.
"Go apologize to her" She says. I sigh and get out of the bed. When I walked into the kitchen she was there. I hated admitting when I was wrong or apologizing when I had done nothing wrong, but I knew it meant nothing. She and I looked at each other before either of us said anything.
"Can we talk?" I ask. She nods.
"I'm sorry, Dani. You know that I didnt mean to do that" She says.
"I know. I know, and I'm not mad" I say. She looked so relieved when I said that it broke my heart. "I know that people make mistakes and that you were hurting over Wren. I forgive you". She threw herself into my arms and squeezed me as tightly as possible.
"I thought you'd hate me forever" She says.
"Nothing in the world would ever make me hate you" I say. We still hadn't let go of each other.
"I'm so sorry" She says. I finally pull away.
"Jade, It's okay. I promise" I say.
"Do you still love me?" She asks. I laugh.
"You've been my bestfriend far too long for me to not like you. Even when I hate you, I always love you" I say. She smiles and hugs me again. All the memories we had shared flashed through my head. From always sitting in her driveway until 1am talking about literally anything to her saying she was going to kill any man that wanted to ever be with me. I couldn't imagine my life without her.
"I love you too" She says pulling away.
"Now, I need to find Jace. We still havent talked about it" I say.
"He's not here. His car is gone" She says. That was kind of weird that he had just left without telling anyone, but I guess if he was upset he wanted to be alone. I couldn't be upset over that. Plus, I knew he would be back.
***Jace's POV***
The nearest town was a few hours away. I didn't tell anyone I was leaving, but they all knew me well enough to know that I wasn't just going to leave them all there alone. Plus, me not being there meant that Dani would have to talk to Jade and work things out with her, and that's what needed to happen. They couldn't not be friends. I was ok my way back to the house now though, so I fully intended on talking to Dani as soon as I got back, and telling her the reason I left.
When I got back to the house, I started to go back in the house. It was late, so the girls were probably all in bed. Atleast, I figured they would be until I heard a noise coming from the dock. I quietly walked over. Sitting in the edge of the dock was Georgianna. That was odd. She hated water. She was muttering to herself, but I couldn't understand what she ways saying. I didnt want to make any noise and risk her hearing me.
It was getting weirder though, I noticed an anchor next to her. One that looked identical to what I sank Sawyer's body with. It looked like it was attached to her somehow. What on earth was she doing? A few minutes later, I answered my own question. She tossed the anchor into the lake and fell into the water. She never came back up.
