Edith PoV

It's been weeks since that night and Alan and I were making a quick recovery but I couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt towards my dead husband. I felt the strong need to go back to Allerdale Hall, they just didn't deserved being forced to stay there with Lucille being still around. It took me some time but I managed to convince Alan to help me gather some more helpers. So now I was sitting here in a carriage, Alan at my side even though I wanted him to stay in bed and continue to get better, but he was having none of it. Behind us 5 more man were riding through the snow that luckily had died down slightly already. Slowly the big dark house came closer and I could already see how the snow turned more and more crimson. "Are you really sure about going back inside? I'm sure I could manage this task alone." Alan spoke out, he must have noticed how quiet I became. "No I'm sure that the ghost won't show themselves to you..." I simply replied and if I was honest I wanted another chance for a proper goodbye form Thomas.

We arrived shortly after and we could already see Lucille's dead body lying in the front yard. Two of the man that came with us just grabbed her and placed her in a coffin right away while the rest of us hurried inside. "Thomas? Elena?" I called out right away, ignoring the still disbelieving looks from my company. Even Alan seemed to be a bit wary. I looked around the foyer and just stopped when I heard small gasps behind me. They were here... When I turned around I saw both of them floating over the ground with unsure faces. "Don't be afraid. We're here to give you your peace to all of you.." I said softly. Thomas only nodded his head. "We're going to get your body first since it's the most...recent...one." "We'll meet you there! I believe your...companions are rather shocked about our appearance." Elena seemed to hide even further into Thomas side at that, after all she was the one with the half smashed in skull before they disappeared again. The workers seemed clearly afraid as I guided them up the stairs. "You knew about that the whole time?" Alan asked me. "Well I told you my mother was talking to me...after she died. I don't know why but I seem to draw them out somehow. All of Lucille's victims are still here and they were trying to warn me.." I shortly explained. I could understand him all of this must be rather confusing for him. "But don't worry they aren't really harmful...they just looks scary." We reached Lucille's room in silence after that, Thomas and Elena were already waiting for us next to Thomas body. It made all of this more real and the man carefully took the body away clearly glancing at his ghostly owner here and there. After we were alone, with just Alan and me and the two ghost, Elena started to wander the room. She stopped in front of Lucille's trophy box. "I think she wants you to take this as well..." Thomas remarked and I slowly walked over it. Inside I could see some braided pieces of hair in different colours including my own and a small sack. Of course I knew what she had kept from Elena so I knew better then open it. "Alright I'm gonna put them in the coffins as well.." I simply whispered back softly. "Is...Is she still here as well?" I added carefully but just in this moment I could hear the piano playing from the living room, causing me and Alan to jump. "She is...but I don't think shell leave even after you burry her. She's just obsessed with this house.." Thomas explained. "She's hiding most of the time through, afraid of the other ghost."
"Let's get over with this quickly. This place just became a lot more spooky..." Alan breathed out and pulled me closer towards him. "Down in the mines will be safe.." Somehow I doubt that Lucille would be around down there so this was out next goal.

It took hours to find all the body parts of the poor woman and even the baby in this horrendous red clay but eventually they were all lying in front of us. With each body that we completed one of the terrifying ghost figured appeared lining up right behind their former body. They still looked far from being peaceful but something came to my mind and I opened the Lucille's treasure box once again. Alan tried to stop me from approaching but I pushed past him anyways, slowly approaching the bodies in front of me. "Lady Beatrice Sharpe." I said and placed a piece of grey hair onto her body. To my surprise her ghost started to change immediately, her once so shattered red skin slowly turned back to a normal full form and she see almost looked alive if she hadn't had this strange white glow around her. "Thank you dear child." she said in her cold voice before she simply disappeared. It caused Alan to step over to me. "You're releasing them...I think..." he whispered slowly and it encouraged me enough to continue. "Margaret McDermott..." the next braid got placed down and the same happened to her but she just nodded thankful towards me before she was also gone. "Enola Sciotti." "Oh thank you darling I knew you'd find out the truth!" she said with a bright smile and hugged the baby she was still holding closer. After they was gone I turned towards Elena's body. "If I place your tongue back will you be able to talk again too?" I asked her slowly. She only replied with an hopeful nod and I could understand just how much she was hoping to end up like the other ghost now, for this nightmare to end after all those years. I took one last breath while I saw her closing her eyes, before I walked closer towards her skull. Carefully I placed the small bag inside between the jawbones.

Elena PoV

I could feel it happening, something...I was changing. It felt warm, loving and powerful like a hug from a angel... or at least that's how I imagined it. I had closed my eyes out of fear it wouldn't happen but now I felt more than comfortable opening them slowly only to be greeted by the soft ones of my former husband. "Elena...?" he breathed out questioning and I just knew that I also looked like my past self again. "T-Thomas..." I could hear myself say and I almost didn't recognized my own voice cause I hadn't heard it in so long. „Oh my god....Thomas!" I called out in happiness and hugged him close. I couldn't believe this...finally after so long I finally felt...alive...again. I had to push Thomas away only so I could look at Edith again. "Thank you so much, Edith." Slowly I walked closer until I was right in front of her. "There's so much that I want to tell you now that I can speak again but I don't think we have that much time. So just take care of yourself and her..." I smiled knowingly and placed a hand on Edith stomach, her eyes seemed to grow wider in realisation. "Her...you mean..." I didn't let her finish the sentence and just nodded. "My love we have to go now..." I could hear Thomas saying from behind me. "You're right...take good care of her as well...she'll need you..." I said in Alan's direction and he just nodded. "Goodbye Edith. I'm sorry that it had to end like this but I'm sure we'll see each other again sometime..." Thomas said once more with a sad smile before he grabbed my hand and guided me towards the light that had been here for the time.

And just like that they were gone too. I couldn't help but feel a certain kind of sadness and Alan seemed to noticed cause he pulled me into his side in a comforting manner. "Alright let's take them back to the city..." he announced.

A few days later a small funeral was held to their honours most of them had gotten their own graves but I had insisted that Thomas and Elena would be taken with me back to Buffalo. I knew they would have liked that to be as far away from this place and Lucille as possible. I sold the house and the ground not to soon after, the locals where eager to buy it now that Thomas machines was working and they could go back to clay mining.

After I was back in Buffalo, where I managed to buy my old home back, I found out that I was pregnant with Thomas child. Of course Alan hadn't stopping caring from me ever since we came here and soon I found myself falling for him as well. The events of Allerdale Hall, gave me whole new idea for my first book which I managed to publish even before my beautiful daughter was born. She had the same dark hair and dark brown eyes that Elena had and somehow I couldn't shake the feeling that she was the reincarnation of the baby that Elena would have had if she hadn't died. "What are you doing here, darling? Still working?" ,my now new husband Alan asked me in a soft voice before he hugged me from behind. "No I was just thinking about how happy I am to be back.." I smiled and leaned into him. Life couldn't be better right now..
