Penelope's back collided with her soft bed as she simultaneously released a big sigh. An enormous smile was plastered across her face that she just couldn't seem to erase as she stared at the ceiling replaying the past fifteen minutes in her head.

Penelope kissed her. She kissed Josie. And not only that, Josie kissed her back! Sure, Josie also said she hated her but it was obvious in her kiss that it wasn't true, at least not completely. And in this moment, that was sufficient enough for Penelope.

Penelope had to hand it to herself because she genuinely didn't know where that sudden burst of courage had came from to do that. But she was overjoyed that she had and she released a tiny squeal thinking about the outcome.

She ran her fingertips over her lips gently, still having trouble believing that they had been pressed against Josie's just minutes ago. She found hers lips already missing the softness and warmth of Josie's.

Penelope looked to her bedside drawer in search of the time on the alarm clock. It read 11:07pm and she knew she should be getting in the shower now since she had to wake up early for class the next morning. Instead she laid back down closing her eyes with the huge smile still visible, wanting to just lay there and replay her moment with Josie in her head for a few more minutes.

Later that night from across the dorms, Josie laid in bed with her twin sister, soaking Lizzie's shirt with her tears. They had just been forced to do something both girls never thought they would have to do in a million years, and the aftermath was almost unbearable for the two, especially Josie.

In just the short time Josie had spent with her mother she felt a connection that went beyond just knowing she was her biological mother. A connection that was developed and destroyed all within less than twenty four hours.

As the two laid in the darkness there were no words to be exchanged between the girls. Both knew the pain the other sister was feeling, so they laid there clinging to each other. It was times like these when their connection proved to be so strong and essential.

While both girls shared the remorse the other was going through, they also shared the love and reassurance both were trying to offer each other as emotional support.

Lizzie fell asleep stroking her sister's hair as tears began to roll down from her own eyes.

Images of Josie's mother began to appear in her dreams as she vividly remembered the demon that took over her mother's body. The way her soft round face began to instantly decay into rotting gray flesh. The way her light blue eyes rolled into the back of her head only to be replaced with nothing but white. The way she ran towards her, like a predator attacking its prey, and the way Josie wasn't able to do anything but stand in fear as it all happened so fast.

Josie jolted awake quickly, screaming at the nightmare she just experienced.

She violently clutched at her chest feeling her heartbeat racing through the roof.

It was just a dream. She thought, but then remembered it wasn't. It wasn't just a dream.

She took a deep breath as she rubbed her eyes, slowly opening them to finally notice she was alone. Lizzie was gone and Josie wondered to herself where she could be.

Until she realized what time it was, she was late for her first class!

Why hadn't Lizzie woken her up? She thought as she readied herself in a hurry and sprinted across the campus.
