I sigh as I run around the cafe I work at, Once Upon A Life, trying to get everyone's order before I clock out. I glance at the clock, seeing it's 4:30, when the bell rings, alerting that a customer walked in. I welcome them with a smile, "Hello! I'll be right there!" I finish making a cappuccino for the petite woman with a small, yappy dog and hand it to her. I walk to the register, flash a smile to the customer, and while putting tip money in my tip jar behind the counter. I look up and my green eyes meet gray, stormy ones that I've never seen before. Our eyes are locked for a moment more before I smile again.
"Hi, what would you like?"
She smiles back at me, eyes sparkling, like lightning, "Hi. Uhm I would just like one Grande Vanilla Latte and two chocolate chip muffins, please."
I laugh softly, "You like chocolate, I presume?"
She looks down for a moment and giggles, "Heh, yeah I do. Hard addiction to get over."
I smile at her words and nod my head, "It truly is. Name?"
She looks confused for a moment but laughs softly, "Right, I forgot. Layla" She gently smiles as she says it.
I write down her name, "Okay, it'll be just a moment, Layla. Just wait over there," I say and point at where you wait for your food, "Or sit down anywhere, if you're in no hurry." I flash another smile at her.
"Okay, thank you." She flashes me her beautiful smile once again before walking away to a table.
I watch her walk away, her long, platinum blonde flowing as she walks. I turn to make her latte, once finished, I write on the drink, 'XXX-XXX-XXXX Call me :) ~Ambrose' I grab a small bag and softly put her muffins in it, making sure they don't mush together. I look for her table, until my gaze catches where she's at. She's reading a book, with a soft smile hiding behind it.
I walk over to her and tap her shoulder, grinning when she looks up.
"Hi. Thank you," she glances to my name tag, "Ambrose" She smiles back at me.
I hand Layla her latte and muffins, "Welcome," I turn around start to walk away before I stop and turn around, flashing a smile towards her once again, "See you later, Layla." When I walk to the counter, I glance at her, she has a confused look on her face and I softly laugh and roll my eyes. I stare at her a bit longer as she looks at her cup, a smile forming on her lips. She looks at me, smiling even brighter, a smile matching hers forms on my face. I glance at the clock, realizing I stayed ten minutes after my shift ended and my smile fades.
I look back at her a mouth 'Shift ended. Bye' I smile at her when she mouths 'Bye.'
I turn to head to the back, feeling sad, with thoughts forming in my head, 'What if she doesn't call? What if she forgets and loses her cup?' More thoughts like that keep flowing in before I shake my head, 'She won't forget. She really seemed interested in me.' At that thought, I smile and head home.
