A Deal With The Devil

Dan thought it would be a good idea to get into hell, as he along with all other children grew up thinking hell was the better place to end up. The second heaven let go of him, he ran into what he thought was going to be hell. His whole body was covered with the vine creature but it was no longer fighting to pull him into the dark abyss. Now though, it was just spreading throughout his body. he could feel it moving over his stomach, his legs. It wasn't a nice feeling, it felt as if he was just covered in bugs, biting every inch it touched. Suddenly, a light was approaching him.

The light started to talk, ¨Hello Dan, welcome to purgatory. You will be stuck here until Satan chooses a path for you. You will have to bargain with him, make a deal, just so you won't fail right away. Once you back from your, presumably failed quest, I will direct you to where the other ones stay. Now, right this way.¨

Dan didn't know what he was doing, but he slowly started to follow the bright light. As he assumed, the light lead him to where the devil was sitting, a large throne made of mainly flames and thorns.

¨You must be the new runner... Tell me, son, how did you get here?¨

¨I-I just r-ran into the black line, sir.¨ Dan was almost scared to speak.

¨No, how you died.¨

¨oh, um... I'm not completely sure. last I remember, I was in the street with my girlfrien-¨

¨OOH, is that the one whos yelling about where you are? we have her in the dungeon. Such a loud creature. Continue son, sorry about that. I just get excited about fresh meat.¨

¨ok... my girlfriend and I were standing in the road, just before that we were talking about something, I can't quite remember. I remember hearing a loud crashing sound and right before that my girlfriend's voice saying she loved me... did I get hit by a car?¨

¨Not just a car, a bus. Now tell me, what makes you think you can just run in hear and live a happy life in hell, just like the people who were meant to be here? Hundreds of people every day try to get into hell daily, yet they fail. What makes you special?¨

¨I never said there was anything special about me if anything, I'm less superior than the other people who have tried today. I just know that someone I love is on the other side of this wall, so I have something to fight for, a reason to be in hell. If I didn't I probably would have been content with heaven, even though I know I belong in hell."

"Well then, my boy, I have some jobs for you."

And with that, Satan stood up and walked away.
