** Jack's POV **

I'm driving down the road headed to Cameron's house when I see her on the bridge. I IMMEDIATELY slam on my brakes and park and rush to the bridge to keep this girl from killing herself.

"Please don't do this." I say pleadingly to her. She may be a complete stranger but she can't kill herself.

She turns around, and looks at me. She looks broken and like she's possibly cried once or twice in the last hour. I wonder why. Her face is beautiful but broken. Why, why would someone as beautiful as her be as broken as she looks? Who did her wrong? Because that person needs to be punched in the face with a battle ax multiple times.

I just stare pleadingly at her. "Please don't do it. You don't want to do this. Please."

"Why? Tell me one good reason why I shouldn't jump." She says quietly.

"Because. You are someone. If things are horrible right now, they could get better."

"It's not like anyone would care if I died anyway."

"I care." I reply, for some reason super upset and sad about the fact that this girl wants to kill herself. I don't even know her but yet, I wanna know her, want to save her life.

"You don't even know me." She replies and with that, jumps off the bridge into the river below.

"No!!!!" I yell after her.

And her body hits the river with a splash.

Before I know what I'm doing, I'm running. Full out RUNNING to below the bridge, and climb into the river and rescue her, hoping to save her.

When I pull her body out of the water and onto the sandy, rocky bank, she's barely hanging on. Her breathing seems to be short, like she's dying. Which she more than likely is. Her arm is twisted into an unusual way because when I picked her up out of the water, there were a bunch of big rocks beneath her. And there's a few little cuts on her wrists that are bleeding, but that's probably because of previous self harm.

I don't even know this girl's name but I want to save her. Need to save her. Which is weird because never before have I acted like this.

I pull out my iPhone (which surprisingly didn't get wet) and dial 911 then I report what happened. "I- I need an ambulance this girl tried to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge, she's bleeding from a wound in her head and her arm might be broke." Then I said where I was located.

"Okay. We will have an ambulance there soon."

"Thank you." And then they hang up.

I just hold this girl who's name I don't know, this girl I don't know, and try to keep her alive. "C'mon you can make it. Just keep breathing, please. If you can keep on breathing, keep living, I promise to give you a paradise like none other. I promise to protect you and keep you from getting hurt. I promise to never hurt you, ever." I tell her, holding her even though she's dying and bleeding to death from a cut I just found on her head. (Oh and her slit wrists too.) She probably can't hear me since she's unconscious but I'll try my hardest to make her understand.

A few short minutes later, the paramedics show up. "Give her here to me." One paramedic guy says, taking the girl from my arms and putting her on the gurney.

"This is the girl who was reported missing about 20 minutes ago." A police officer says.

Another police officer turns to look at me. "Do you know what happened exactly? Like what could've caused her to jump off the bridge?"

"I didn't know her but I saw her about to jump and tried to talk her out of it and she said no one would care if she died and I said I would care even though I don't know her and then she jumped. And I rescued her from the water." I explain all in one breath.

"Wow. Okay. Thanks for saving her. She's had a rough last few years."

"Why?" I ask.

"Family problems- her dad died in a horrible car accident a few years back and her mom has gotten remarried and that probably sent her over the deep end."

"Oh." That explains everything. And it's really sad. I feel bad for her.

"Well, she's headed to the hospital now, would you like to tag along?" The cop asks.

"Sure." I reply. "But first I need to go somewhere.... The place I was headed before I... tried.. to save her."

"Okay. Take your time."

"Thanks."

The cop rattles off what hospital she'll be heading to and then he leaves, heading to his car.

"Officer?" I call out.

"Yeah kid?"

"What's her name?"

The cop smiles sadly. "Aubrey Taylor."

"Thanks." I reply.

Then the cop leaves and I'm alone on the bank, in wet clothing. I decide to get up after a few minutes and head back to the car that I abandoned. I get in and drive to Cameron's, noticing the time. Holy f*ck. I was supposed to be at Cameron's AN HOUR ago! I spent an hour with a suicidal girl while I tried to talk her out of it, then she jumped and then I rescued her trying to keep her alive. Now she's on the way to the hospital, where she'll hopefully live.

I speed to his house and apology for being late and for also leaving right away- I need to get to the hospital to make sure that girl- Aubrey- is okay.

"Yo Gilinsky I've never seen you act like this before! Holy crap! What's gotten into you?!" Nash asks surprised.

"I don't even know to be honest!!" I reply, completely unsure of why I'm acting like this about some girl that I literally just met who tried to commit suicide. That I saved... Kinda. I mean she jumped but I saved her from the river...

"Well. Good luck I hope she lives!" Johnson adds.

"Thanks guys." I reply and go back out to my car and head to the hospital to go check on this complete stranger.

Why am I acting like this..? I mean I don't even know her but yet, I wanted to make sure she didn't kill herself, want to make sure she's doing okay in the hospital. God what has gotten into me?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Two whole days pass and for some weird reason, I spend that entire time with her in the hospital. She's in a coma right now so she's not going to be coming to anytime soon but something about this girl makes me want to spend her recovery time with her until she comes to. That's weird and crazy right? Right.

I sing to her. In fact I sing mine and Jack's newest song Paradise (Never Change) to her. I tell her that she needs to come back that somebody cares about her. That I, a complete stranger, care about her, as crazy as it sounds.

"Get away from it all not a care in the world, watch the sun hit the water as the waves curl. No plans but a drink in my hand. No shoes no shirt swimsuit raybans." I sing to her and in that song I promise her a paradise. And maybe just maybe more than that.
