*Ariel Collins*

“Ariel, wake up..” Two arms nudged me slowly, making me pull the pillow over my head, groaning.

“Ariel wake up!” The arms pushed me again making me fall face first on the floor.

“Mom! Oh my god sunlight!” I winced, hiding my face from the sun that just peeked through the blinds.

“Stop acting like a kid. Get up, brush your teeth, change your clothes, come down to get your breakfast and then go to school. It’s your first day and you’re already going to be late. Move!” She demanded, leaving the room. I hadn’t even woken up and she already started her blabbering. Just like she said, I drugged my jelly like legs over to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and fixing my long red hair. Then I slipped on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, my black converse, a white tank top and a Whitechapel zipper.

“Ariel!” Cecilia growled angrily. I picked up my backpack and run downstairs. I grabbed a toast and threw myself outside of the house where a nice surprise was waiting for me.

“Good morning beautiful.” Nick my boyfriend said, kissing my cheek.

“Hey!” I squealed happily as his hand found my waist slowly.

“Are you working today?” He asked his face full of hope.

I shrugged and stared at him from the corner of my eye. “I don’t know, I’ll have to call Josh, why?”

“Well…there is this cool beach party today and we’ll bring drinks and you know the ‘stuff’.” He replied, winking at me. I grinned in response thinking of how much I will need to go out after this so-going-to-be-a-boring-first-day-at-school.

“I’ll see what I can do.” I kissed his cheek and walked over to my locker, throwing my bag and taking my notebook, ready to go to my first class. Quickly I checked my schedule and realized that my first class was going to be one of my favorite. English!

I walked quietly over to my first class, thankful to see that most of the kids in there were familiar to me.

“Hey little mermaid, will you wag your tail for us?” Joey one of the most annoying boys I have ever known, yelled from the back of the class. I resisted the urge to give him ‘the finger’ and sat down in a random seat.

That’s when my world lit up. My best friend Ollie barged in, throwing herself all over me.

“I missed you so much! Where have you been all this time? Spill! Why haven’t you told me that you’d go back in England for the summer? I wanted to come with you!” She starts babbling making me giggle in response.

“I’m sorry for not telling you I’d go back. My mom decided we should go back and the next day we were in an airplane back to Manchester. I’d call you too if she hadn’t taken my phone.” I frowned, hugging her tightly.

“You lucky dipshit, instead I stayed here, going out only after the sun set.” She smiled at me, making my heart sink. God I missed her so much.

“Good morning class.” A female voice was heard as she entered the class, closing her door behind her. She was short with short blonde hair that matched her chocolate brown eyes and thin delicate figure.

“My name’s Ms. Rose and together will be studying English for this year.” She said with sweet smile spreading over her face. Damn she seemed such a nice person that was going to be exploited by the bastards of my class.

"I’ll give all of you a book which you’ll have to study and by the end of the week give me a summary of what you read.” She said starting to pass the books one by one.
