Mel
I sucked in a deep breath.
"Of course not. I was just sitting here like a good little sheep waiting to be slaughtered." I answered as nonchalantly as I could, despite my racing heart.
I felt him shift slightly as he lifted some of his weight off me, freeing my hands in the process.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah," I answered sarcastically as I slowly brought my hands out from under me, careful to keep him distracted. "What did you think I was doing?"
I waited, daring him to accuse me.
He didn't miss a beat.
"That you were trying to run away.""Is that so?"
If he felt my glare, he ignored it.
"Yes.""Well, I wasn't. Do you know what I was trying to do?"
"What might that be?"
"This."
I brought my hands and sent my right fist straight towards his face past his chest.
His fingers closed around my fist, stopping it from moving further.
I could feel his smirk, directed right at me.
"Nice try."
He took half of his weight off me, straddling me with one leg on either side of my hips, using his lower half to pin me down as he leaned over me to trap my hands above my head.
As soon as his eyes left my face, I bucked, dislodging his leg and giving me enough room to jerk my knee up, right into...a very sensitive area.
He tumbled off the bed with a grunt, springing back to his feet almost instantly.
But I had already leapt off the bed and darted to the door before he could catch me.
I heard his growl as I wrenched it open and hastily stepped into the hall.
Crap, crap, crap.
I was so screwed.
