I raced down the corridor and headed straight for one place.
Labrador's room.
I flung the door open and careened inside, slamming it shut afterwards.
Labrador looked up from his desk, surprised.
"What-"
"Hide me," I said urgently, sending him a pleading look.
Understanding dawned in his eyes, and he rose from is chair with a sigh, beckoning me over to the other side of his room.
"I know I'm going to regret this. What did you do? At least tell me that. I am risking my life for you, after all."
I paused, staring up at him quickly.
"Uh...I may or may not have kneed him in the balls and...maybe tried to punch him in the face..." I answered sheepishly.
His eyes widened as a small smirk curled up the corner of his mouth.
"Oh, you are so going to get it," he grinned as he punched in a pin on the huge safe that was standing behind me.
"I'm looking forward to being there when he catches you. If I'm not, I'll drop by the room you're locked in so you can slip me a detailed account of what happened from under the door, 'kay?"
I glared at him as I stepped into the dark confines of the safe.
"Thanks for your support, the faith you have in me is mind blowing."
"Anytime, Pixie, anytime."
The door clicked shut before I could punch him.
Less than a minute later, I heard the bedroom door open. It hit the wall with a bang that shook the whole room.
"Where. Is. She."
His voice was incredibly quiet, so low that I had to strain to hear it.
I peeked out from the small vents in the front of the safe.
And shivered.
Barely concealed anger rolled of him in waves. His fists were clenched by his sides, knuckles white from strain. His jaw was clenched, a muscle jumping out in his cheek every few seconds.
Yikes.
I decided to abandon the thought of sneaking out when he wasn't looking, and of escaping altogether.
I'd rather stay here, where he couldn't see me, with a heavy metal wall between us. Preferably forever.
Yet I couldn't help but notice what a fine jawline he had...
No. Kristy, stop it. You're getting distracted again. Bad Kristy, bad. No checking out kidnappers. Nu-uh.
"You're looking for Pixie? I saw her go across the corridor to the kitchen. I think she went out the back door." Labrador told him.
My naughty thoughts about Mr Robber Guy momentarily came to a halt. There was a back door? Good, good. Another emergency escape route.
There was silence.
Then, "And you let her?"
Labrador and I both realised his mistake at the same time. I saw his eyes widen as he tried to amend what he'd said.
"Well, I... I-"
But Mr Robber Guy didn't seem to be paying attention.
"You fucking idiot," he hissed, turning on his heel and moving out of my line of vision.
Then, I heard the sound of the door creaking as his light footsteps faded away.
I breathed a quick sigh of releif. It was short-lived, though, as the metal knob of the safe turned and the door was yanked open.
My heart stopped pounding as hard as it had been when I realised it was Labrador.
"What the hell? You scared the shit out of me!"
"He's really angry. Like, whoa."
Labrador eyed at me grimly.
"So what do you suggest I do?"
He furrowed his eyebrows before saying, "Go to Ambrose's room. You'll be safe there. For now."
I nodded and stepped out of the safe.
"That way he can take the blame of harboring the fugitive," he muttered under his breath.
"Hey!" I smacked his arm, earning a surprised look from him.
"Shoo," was his last word to me as her shut the door of his bedroom in my face.
I stuck my tongue out childishly at the door, and turned to sneak across the corridor to Puck's room.
And walked straight into Mr Robber Guy's chest.
Fuck.
