Piper made her way carefully down to Percy's quarters. She didn't know why there soldiers on the deck, but eventually they'd be checking the ship and for any stowaways and she had to protect the captain.
She slipped into the room and closed the door, dragging a chair over from Percy's worktable to wedge under the doorknob.
"Right. That provides a few minutes..."
She stood in the middle of the room and looked around. Percy was lying in the corner, as usual, and he didn't look much better. There were two small windows up near the ceiling of the room, but she wasn't sure she'd be able to get out one of them.
First thing was first, Piper wanted to get her captain covered a little bit. She planned on trying to get out, so she wanted him to be less noticeable so that if someone did get in, they might miss him in the darkness of the room.
She went to the chest on the other side of the room that was bolted to the floor. Throwing it open revealed a stack of various clothing items and several blankets.
Piper grabbed two of the blankets and took them over to the cot, tossing one over Percy's body to cover him. She arranged the other one to cover most of his head, then draped it along the rest of his body as well.
Stepping back and inspecting her work, Piper nodded and turned back to the captain's chest. She was barefoot, as usual, but she had grabbed a pair of Reyna's boots earlier, so she grabbed some of Percy's clothes and began to change.
Pulling her hair up to hide it under a hat, Piper checked herself over. High boots, black trousers tucked into them, a loose black shirt with gathered sleeves. She wrapped a thin scarf around her head to keep the ponytail tucked in, then wrapped the tails around her face to cover the bottom part of it so all someone could see was her eyes and the bridge of her nose.
Piper looked in the glass hung up on the wall, checking herself over. She grinned and drew her dagger, spinning it in her hand.
"Eat your heart out, Grace, now who's the corsair?"
She grabbed one of Percy's tricorns, pulling it down over the scarf.
[A/N yes she's dressed like Wesley from Princess Bride]
Satisfied with her appearance, Piper went over to one of the windows and reached up, unlatching it and pulling it open.
There was no way she was going to be able to just pull herself out the window.
She got down and looked around, then grabbed another of Percy's chairs and dragged it over to the window. She climbed up on top of it and wiggled herself out of the window a little bit.
Piper wrinkled her nose as she looked down at the muddy water beneath her. Percy's quarters were on the side of the ship that wasn't by the dock, but the next ship over was docked pretty close and she could probably make that with some effort.
The only problem was that she would definitely make some noise while doing that. And people would probably see that.
Piper sighed and wriggled her way back into the room. She stood on the chair, hands on her hips, and tried to think of everything.
Percy shifted a little and she glanced at him.
"Oh. Oh of course."
Getting down, Piper went over to the captain and knelt by his bed. She closed her eyes, speaking quietly.
"Lord Poseidon, I need your help. Your son is in grave danger, and I need a distraction to get out of here so that I can help him. If you can give me anything, please, to distract the guards, I will sacrifice to you the next time I can."
She sighed heavily and stood up, going back to the chair and climbing up.
For a few minutes, nothing happened, then as Piper watched the dock across from the window, the water suddenly began to recede heavily.
She grinned and wriggled herself halfway out again. Once she'd gotten her hips almost all the way out, she painstakingly turned herself over so that she was facing the sky. Digging her fingers into the window-frame, she kept working her way out until only her feet were still inside. It was sort of painful, the way she was sitting, but Piper gritted her teeth and pulled one foot out, then the other.
She slowly lowered her feet until she was hanging from her hands. It was a good thing that it was getting dark already.
The entire ship suddenly rocked sharply, like it had been hit by something. Piper bit back a scream, gripping the frame as tightly as she could. She felt spray on her forehead and looked up to see water dripping over the edge of the deck.
Poseidon had just hit the entire ship with a huge wave. Piper looked down and saw the water receding again.
She took a deep breath and waited for the second collision. It came much quicker, and as soon as she felt it hit she shoved herself away from the ship with her feet and twisted midair, reaching for the far dock.
Rolling as she landed, Piper silently thanked Poseidon and took off at a dead sprint, heading for the castle.
