Elliot's POV
"This is Wyatt and this is Charlie" Jason smiled widely as his children met, although all three people under the age of forty in the room found it quite awkward.
"Hi, I'm Elliot. I'm your sister." Again, Wyatt and Charlie just looked at her, questions wizzing about in their heads. Elliots mind was also going a mile-a-minute , she was thinking of a way to get out of the extremely awkward situation she had somehow gotten herself into.
"What's your favourite colour?" A random question in a random moment, but Elliot was thankful that was Charlies first question. Elliot smiled as she thought of her answer.
"My favourite colours used to be pink and blue because my favourite food is Candy Floss, but now I love the colour yellow. What about you Charlie?" The girls smiled at each other, both genuine smiles to Elliots surprise. Elliot hadn't lied when she answered a question, she had just over exaggerated the part about loving the colours because she wanted Charlie to like her, Elliot briefly thought about what her therapist told her for a split second.
"Is Candy Floss the same as Cotton Candy?" Charlie innocently asked to which Elliot smiled and nodded.
That was the start of their conversation, it lasted quite some time until Jason decided it was time for them to leave.
"So how did you end up at the orphanage? I thought you'd live with your mother at least." Jason asked as they sat in traffic on the way to Jasons bosses house. Jason didn't ask the question to pry, he still felt guilty and wanted to know that Elliot had had at least some years of her life living with family.
"I lived with my mother until i was four-years-old, then she decided she didn't want me. Then i lived with my Granny, in Liverpool. She worked a lot but she was always there whenever our mum would come back and then drop me again. I lived there until I was ten-years-old, I went to St Pauls because Granny was religious and knew one of the nuns so I got moved to Milton Keynes, I was there for seven-years" Elliot brushed some stray tears from the corner of her eyes.
Jason, however, was to focused on the road to realise. Suddenly, his
face twisted up remembering the information from earlier that day."That's only seventeen years, I thought you said you were Twenty?" Elliots face also twisted not wanted to relive more bad memories.
"My Great Uncle Johnny, I lived with him for three-years. One day he randomly showed up at the door saying he found an old letter or something. I lived with him in Middlesbrough for three-years, I met a lot of my cousins that live there." Elliot didn't feel like she had to elaborate, sometimes Elliot wishes she was back in the bungalow talking all night with her Uncle Johnny. Elliot got along very well with her newly discovered family, and quickly found out that three-years was in no way enough time to live with a person with such a kind heart.
By the time Elliot met her Uncle Johnny he was already seventy, his life consisted of smoking, drinking and playing bingo until he found a letter addressed to him from his deceased younger sister stating that he had a great niece that needed a family. Who was he to say no to a child in need?
At the age of seventy-two Uncle Johnny had been diagnosed with bone cancer, primally in his face. By the time Uncle Johnny was seventy-three he couldn't open his mouth to smile let alone talk.
Elliots last memories of her uncle were her favourite, between asking for a cigarette and asking for a bottle of whiskey to pour into his IV bag.
Elliots favourite memory by far was the last time she ever said goodbye to her Uncle Johnny. She only planned on leaving for an hours to nip home for a nap.
Elliot had smiled and waved and her Uncle Johnny smiled back as wide as he could and waved with both hands enthusiastically, his shoulders went up and down as he did so. This had made Elliot laugh all the way back to their bungalow.Elliot had missed it in the end, 'it' being how the nurses explained the death of her Uncle.
"Its happened," Elliots heart had stopped, "about twenty-minutes-ago." That really didn't help Elliot, all she could think for months after was along the lines of,
'What if I hadn't stopped at the shop go get a coke?'
'What if I hadn't changed my top for a warmer one?'These questions kept Elliot awake for along time, she missed her Uncles death by twenty short minutes, Elliot could only imagine his eyes frantically looking around for her, but she wasn't there.
"We're here!" Jason stated, quickly jumping out of the car while Elliot wiped away her tears.
The way Jason explained his boss scared Elliot. A man, young, big in his boots, mischievous and loved to torture his 'friends'. Safe to say it didn't help Elliots nerves when she looked up at the massive house in front of her only imagining the monster that must live inside ready to attack his friends with pranks from all angles.
"Come on, Elliot!" Jason was already at the door of the house, knocking he looked back and she got out of the car, doing an awkward jog to the door.
Elliots breath got stuck in her throat and the door slowly opened showing a man in his early twenties, his dark hair was covered by a black hat, his outfit was a simply black shirt and black jeans that made the man look even better, contrasting against his light skin . His dark brown eyes seemed to be doing the same to me. Finally, our eyes meet.
"Hey, i'm David"
