Zoey.

A conservative girl, always dressed at the minimum standard for any event. She never showed any unnecessary skin, and her typical outfit was jeans paired with a graphic tee and a printed cardigan. Not a style if you ask me, but if you ask fanboy over here, he would say differently.

Pale, with shoulder-length straight auburn hair, bangs falling on her natural eyebrows. Short yet thick lashes framed her hazel eyes, which would disappear when she laughed. Her small, button nose was covered in a matting of freckles and was often tinted pink due to her sensitivity to cold weather or any harsh temperatures.

Long story short, she moved out around 3 years ago. Her family was part of our communal group, and when her family left, the group decreased in size and personal charm. She was especially close with Jayce, as they were the same age and were in the same school, leaving him alone to deal with us "little kids" as she called us.

I used to look up to her. She was someone I looked at in a different light to friends. She was gentler, more understanding. When she spoke, she made sure she was neutral, and when she met with other friends, she would make sure to make sure I was included. But she left, and I had changed, and it felt like I would be meeting a whole new person.

You got it, she's coming back.

Jayce told me when his family came over to my house, delivering the news in the most unorthodox fashion. He calmly walked upstairs, straight into my neat and tidy room, aiming for the charger plugged into my phone. He swiftly unplugged it and put his own mobile device to charge, unaware of my judging frown. Focused on his task, he grabbed a neatly folded blanket and unfolded it, sitting on my beanbag and laying the blanket over his legs.

I felt real awkward standing in the doorway like that, so I walked over to him and slid under the blanket, leaning on the wall behind me.

"So...?" I pushed, feeling the tension in the air.

He broke into the dorkiest grin I had ever seen and faced me, eyes alight with joy.

"Zoey. Zoey's coming back to visit for a week." He almost squealed, and I had to bite my tongue to stifle a laugh.
