A/N: imagine the eye has a ring of bright red around the edges

2900 BCE Mesopotamian Valley

A woman runs through the fields looking around to find her home. She had hidden it to make sure the "mighty" Dereizba and his men would not be able to find her. She had angered him when she cursed a woman in the town for calling her a witch.

"Wicked devil" the woman had said, before later finding that her house had been set alight. Brushgrass and palm fronds hanging on the roof to ward off heat in the summer sure can become very dry and flammable under the sun.

"Mahzuz," a sharp voice rang out across the field, as she turned around, only to lock eyes with Dereizba, alone. Curious, to be without others. His glare intensified once he saw her and a smirk spread across his face. She did not move, nor did she she move her eyes from Dereizba.
"You shall receive punishment for what you have done today" Dereizba continued to smirk at her as he waited for her reply. He believed she would beg him for forgiveness which he would've given if he saw proper remorse. If not, he found justice to be a necessity within the village and he would carry it out. Even if the criminal was as beautiful as Mahzuz.

"Dereizba, when will you learn that I do not care for your silly rules. I have done nothing by my hand." Now, Mahzuz smirked as she saw a look of annoyance pass through Dereizba's face. She had been lying of course, she had just done nothing that he could prove, no witnesses to the fire and no evidence made it more difficult. She liked to annoy and tease the man and watch as he continuously chased after her for crimes she may or may not have committed. It was a fun game of cat and mouse, and Dereizba didn't realize that he was the mouse. "Oh I apologize, was that not the answer you wished?" She sarcastically laughed as a scowl formed on his handsome face.

This pleased her even more, she liked to see all the different ways she could make this man's face change, both for the good and the bad. Despite her nomadic life, she had grown quite attached to this face and wanted to keep seeing the man who walks around with it.

His men began to approach, not confident with how long Dereizba was taking with capturing Mahzuz. Dereizba sighed once seeing his men, deciding it was time to stop stalling and time to get Mahzuz.

She stopped laughing once Dereizba and his men started to take steps forward trying to capture her. She flicked her hand and the men around Dereizba collapsed unconscious, while he remained stuck in place.

He struggled against her magic as she walked towards him. She pressed her hands against his cheek, while looking at him deeply in the eyes. "A scowl truly does not belong on your face." He began to stiffin in fear of her true magic. This was no parlor trick of rotting food stores or small fires around the village. This was complete and true power that has stopped him.

"Shhh, do not worry or fear, for I will not hurt you." He seemed to relax as she said this and although the scowl was frozen on his face she could see the curiosity in his eyes.

"You must understand Dereizba that while I may be the feared devil of this town, I will never harm anyone that doe not truly deserve it. I may be a witch but I must also look after myself the best way I possibly can. Surely you can understand this, but I do apologize for breaking your rules, however stupid they may be" She leaned forward with and smile and pressed her lips to his as she unfroze him. Although taken aback, he kisses her back before slowly breaking apart and looking at her baffled and bewildered by her actions.

Taking advantage of his naturally frozen in shock state, Mahzuz takes her opportunity to dart away back to her hidden home.

~~~~~ One Year later~~~~~
"Push Mahzuz, please. The child and I both need you to push." Dereizba shouted at her while she screamed. She had informed him she was with child months ago, but he was nowhere near prepared for this day. "One more push, my love. That's right, and there you go." A babies cry rang through the air as Mahzuz weakly looked at her new child. She was so beautiful and Mahzuz began to cry as she knew she was dying. As she locked eyes with her husband, she realized he was smiling in pure happiness at the new addition to his family.
