The Immortal Souls

Chapter 2

"See you again tomorrow then Erin?" Chase waved goodbye to me as I ran to go get my bus.
" Yeah, see ya. "
"Who was that?" Sydney asks slinging her arm over my shoulders. " and if you say just a friend then I swear I am going to kill you! "
"Ok fine. He was an old best friend." She threw me a sarcastic look.
" very clever. "
"Thank you!"

" Now I want details. Lots! "
"Well as we're best cries but until now he's after as if I've never existed."
" ok well what does he look like? " Sydney seemed desperate to know the details as if her life depended on it.
"Look." I pull her to a stop. " If you really want to know then go ask him yourself. "
"Ok I will. He gets on our bus right?" And then she began to walk away. I say down at the back of the bus and waited for her conversation to end. Somebody sat down next to me and I realised with a stab of fear that it was Noah. "Hey....." I greeted him awkwardly .
"Listen, seeing as Chase is distracted, I'll only tell you this once. Stay away from Chase or you might just end up dead." Sydney stepped up onto the bus. " ok thanks Erin. You're the best, don't tell anyone ok? "
"Our little secret." I agreed my nostrils flaring. Noah hadn't changed either. As I watched his lean form stride away from me, alarm bells rang in my head. Dangerous.

We were twelve and chase, Noah and I were running through the mini forest at the back of the corner park. Noah was it and chase and I were running away from him, hand in hand. But somehow this game felt different to me than it did to chase. To me this wasn't a game. It was an attack, an ambush. He was the hunter and I the prey. But Chase was in on the attack as well. I was being perused by two monsters. It's a miracle that I got out alive.
