The Immortal Souls

chapter 6

"Erin. It's done. She wants to see you." Chase's words intensifies the panic in my chest. " Is it safe?"
"Should be. So you want me to come with you just in case?" I shake my head. I didn't need to be babysat. And besides this was something that I really needed to do alone. Just in case I couldn't hold it together. I knocked tentatively on the mahogany door. " come in." Chloe sounded fine. Peeking my head around the door, I scanned the room. Chloe was sitting up in a chair, a mirror clasped in one hand. From here I couldn't see her face. "Chloe. Are you ok?"
" oh Erin! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me!"

She lowers the mirror slowly so as to not startle me. My eyes immediately lock on her eyes. They are a brilliant shade of green, not the familiar chocolate brown eyes that I was used to. Jealousy hit me so strongly that it almost knocked me off my feet. "Chloe. You're so beautiful!" Chloe bursts out laughing, me following closely behind. "It's gonna take me a while to get used to this." I flip a strand of hair behind her ear.
Chloe is silent and I incline my head to one side, wondering. Chloe stiffened and I realise automatically what has happened. She is fixated on my neck, swallowing deeply. It all happens too fast after that.

I fly through the air before smacking into a window. Glass shatters underneath my weight, little shards biting into my skin. Drawing blood. Chloe let's out an animal scream and then launched herself at me;a wild look in her eyes. Before I have time to scream for help, Chloe picks me up by my throat,pinning me to the wall. Breathing has become a struggle. Then Chloe flies off of me, Chase suddenly appearing beside me. "Erin are you ok?" But I don't see him. My eyes are fixed on Chloe. She's on the floor unconscious. Noah grabs my hand. "We need to get out of here. Now!" He pulls me out of the room, out of the door and into the forest.
