"..." He silently watched everyone like a hawk, knowing no one would dare walk up to the King without permission. It has been four years he lived without a spouse yet. Is it because of his disease in his right eye? He's not really sure.
"Queen Amelia, how nice to see you." He perked up when he heard her name. Oh Amelia, how happy he is to see her. But he won't tell a soul. He made a promise. She noticed him and made her way over, smiling gently at him.
"Sir Bryan, isn't this a wonderful night?" She smiled at him, his ears and face feeling hot. He nodded, grinning nervously.
"Yes, it is..but, would you like to dance?" He asked, holding out a hand towards her. She blinked, then giggled.
"I thought you'd never ask."
Taking his hand, they danced underneath the moonlight, occasionally staring into each other's eyes for a moment then looking away as they bursted into soft laughter, embarrassed.
After a while, the music ended and the party was over. Everyone left except for the both of them as they continued to dance like they're under some sort of spell.
They stopped, and Bryan bowed his entire body to her. Still red with heat, his hair fell onto his face.
"Thank you for the dance, I appreciate it." She smiled again, her beautiful smile was breathtaking.
"You're most welcome, my dear."
"I must be going, won't you accompany me to my carriage?" The night breeze in her short red locks made her look more incredible.
He said yes as she took his hand and led him out the balcony, down the steps, to her carriage.
All of a sudden, she kissed him on the right cheek.
"Good night my King."
And then she entered her carriage and disappeared into the darkness.
Bryan stood silently, watching her take her leave. He slowly placed a hand on the cheek where she kissed him and muttered quietly,
"Good night my darling. See you soon."
