I sat in front of Chris at the table occasionally pretended to blush and I even caught myself laughing at his jokes sometimes. I love how the paparazzi think they're so slick while snapping pictures of us. I could hear the clicking of their cameras loud and clear and I even saw a flash of light every now and then. This was definitely going to be all over every gossip website on the web. I could already picture my face on Perez Hilton's gossip site.
My acting is great. At least I think so and apparently so does Tina Davis, Chris Brown's manager. I remember getting a call from her about a week ago asking me to pretend to be Chris Brown's girlfriend. Chris and I have dated before in the past, so Tina and the rest of Chris' management wanted us to act like we were back together and have a stable "relationship" to help improve Chris' image, because he was releasing an album soon and they wanted the sales to do well. I was getting paid 10K a month so I didn't care.
Chris and I finished our smoothies and left our table but we were still engaged in our super fake conversation. I could feel the stares of the people around us. They were without a doubt eavesdropping. Everyone was straining to hear our conversation from their tables.
Chris and I held hands has we walked back to his car. The afternoon breeze was blowing my maxi dress and hair. Let's just hope I looked more like a model rather than a mess in the pictures. Chris and I had to keep the act up and stick to the script until we got back to his car. Okay so there wasn't an actual script but we had to act happy and keep the conversation about stuff that would make us smile. We had to be as flirty as possible. We had to avoid conversations that would upset either of us. So basically we weren't allowed to bring up our past relationship.
We got back to Chris' car and I started messing around on my phone. I honestly had no clue what I was doing on it, I was just opening and closing random apps that I don't even recall downloading. Ethan probably downloaded it. Ethan was my ex as well. I didn't want Chris to start a conversation with me. I know it's doomed to happen sooner or later but I wanted it to happen later and not sooner. Now we were finally alone in his car. We hadn't been alone for the past week and we didn't talk since we broke up one year ago. I didn't even let him explain what happened. I didn't even care about what he had to say. I had my mind made up so I simply changed my phone number. I'm surprised his management found my number. I pretty much cut him off.
"I still can't believe you agreed to do this," Chris said when we were a safe distance away from the paparazzi.
"Believe it," I said dryly hoping the conversation would just end at that point.
There was an awkward silence for a moment and then he said, "We have a long six months ahead of us."
My contract was up in six months. After that I had a choice to sign a new contract and go on tour with him or just move on with my life. I'm most definitely moving on with my life.
"Aren't you excited?" I said with false enthusiasm. "You'll get a second chance to play with my heart," Oh man I promised myself I wouldn't do this.
The false enthusiasm was gone from my voice now, "I won't cry this time though, because I'm getting paid."
Chris sighed. "I said I was sorry," he said. I could hear the guilt in his voice.
"I don't recall ever hearing those words come out of your mouth," I said.
"Maybe if you would've just let me explain.." He mumbled more to himself than to me.
"You know what let's just drop this conversation okay?" I said realizing where this was going. "I don't wanna fight."
Chris opened his mouth to say something and then closed it. We drove the rest of the way in silence.
