'Dan.' James spits at me. Fiona follows him, and I guess little Mary is still in Kindergarten. 'Who is this? Did you leave for him, because that was pretty cold.' I sit on one of the benches, Jack and Ben besides me. Ben pulls out a Nintendo 3Ds and I can't help but laugh; at a time like this he decides to battle Pokémon, typical.

'These are my friends. They are looking after me.' The bell rings. Jack and I should be heading for French and art now, but James will make me late. He doesn't care, this isn't his school. He has no reputation to uphold, no golden award will be given. They can shout at him but have no control.

'Your Parent's-'

'Adoption Parents.' I correct him.

'Are worried sick.' He carries on. 'They are searching for you, there is a price on your head. Alive,'He comes real close for these next few words. 'Or dead.' So they will kill me. Great. I guess slendy didn't do such a good job of removing memories as he thinks, and what ever happened to innocent till proven guilty?

'Why? I didn't do anything!' I protest. Lying come naturally to me now.

'Don't act. I've known you since you where born. I know what you did.' It comes as a shock that he could hate me this much. His next sentence shocks me more. 'I want to see where your living.'

'Sure.' Is all Jack says. But not in a horrible, daring way. A sweet way, like he would be happy to show the whole world. 'Wanna come with us after school?'

'Fine. No funny business. I want to see his father and your stuff in your room. Now get to class.'

Mrs Darbish wasn't happy. We have her for two lessons, two languages which I find crazy. But anyway, she was livid when we turned up ten minutes late. I just say Jack got lost as we split up at lunch, then I had to find him. She buys it, but not before giving me a lunchtime detention tomorrow. I won't go, as its held by Mrs Smith and I can tell she won't say anything. We have a surprise French test that Jack gets top of the class in.

'Such promise...' Mrs Darbish says. 'But you surround yourself with people like her.' She mutters. Then she hands Jack back his test.

'What do you mean, people like her?' I hear someone say beside me. It was Jack. I turn my pale face to warn him, he shouldn't argue with this teacher.

'I'm sorry, what?' She says innocently.

'You said I surround myself with people like her. Who is this her?' Mrs Darbish's face goes pale

'Umm...' Then Jack bursts.

'I can surround myself with anyone I want! I don't even need to be here! This isn't my school, this isn't what i do! I could live a happy life without this! But I have to come here to protect my friend, who is getting constant bullying. But do you care? No!' He then stands and starts whispering. Because I'm closest I can hear what he is saying.

'Look, I have very powerful friends. You could disappear before I could say 'Prépare La Vashe.'' He does a cruel smile and sits down. We dont do anything for the rest of the lesson, so I stair out the window.

'Jack?' I whisper after a few minutes

'Yes, Dan?'

'Is that who I think it is out there?' He looks out the window and nods. Jeff is waiting for us outside the blue gates.

We get dismissed early, and we hurry to the Form Room. I grab my bag and stuff my books inside, then wait for Jack.

Jeff's face lights up when he sees me walking towards him.
