Running from this awful place we were forced to call home, gave me an adrenaline rush that screamed "freedom is so close!" I then realized how messed up this place really is. This place that kept children with these amazing abilities, talents, and knowledge enclosed into dark rooms and treated like animals.
The keepers deprived these children what they needed to fulfill their childhood needs like learning to ride a bike, having to do school projects, and much more. The most exciting 'activity' we got to do was going outside and chatting amongst the other children who were also locked up in this holding camp. It was miserable. The keepers didn't understand us obviously. They also didn't care.
When we did something they didn't like they'd either poke us with a tazer on a stick, or if it was a group of colors they couldn't control, they would sound the white noise. The white noise was at a frequency only Colors were affected by. This noise affected only the Colors, it is a noise to make your ears bleed. Its sound waves were made painful for us. There are different frequencies of the noise that affects each Color, and of corse the one that affects all Colors.
I should also probably explain to you what the "Colors" are. The Colors are the kids with the abilities, held in these camps. There are five Color; green, blue, yellow, orange, and red. Each Color has its abilities, and some are more rare and powerful than others.
The Green: Green's are good at solving puzzles/mathematical problems. They are most varied, and common. They do not have any offensive powers, but have heightened intelligence.
The Blue: The Blue's possess the power of telekinesis (moving objects with their mind) and telepathy (mind reading. Also being able to speak with other blues in the same area as them via mind).
The Yellow: The power of electric control, the more experienced yellow's can do it mentally where the inexperienced have to touch the electrical object to affect it.
The Orange: Orange can control others and their thoughts. This is also varied.
The Red: Red, the rarest of the five, have the ability to control fire and shoot balls of fire from their hands. We don't know the full ability of reds though.
Not all children get these abilities. It is actually a virus; IAAN (Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration) that is causing children between the ages of 5-13 to die or become PSI (have psychic abilities). Those that become PSI are feared by the adults and this cause the taking of children from their home, once symptoms hit. The children with the symptoms get taken and put into the camps.
I should probably also tell you why we're running. The four of us were in the laundry room on floor thirteen doing our chores with a few others, a couple greens, two snooty yellows, one orange, and a red. And a keeper of corse. The two snooty yellows kept on snickering about something, and while the lazy keeper was sitting on top of one of the washing machines on his phone across the room.
The next thing we knew the machine busts open and water pours everywhere, soaking the man and his device, before he could sound the white noise Michael grabbed his remote that sounded it and threw it in the washer, and Luke dumped a box that had loads of washing detergent on him and we all ran. We made it to the emergency staircase and followed Luke on the journey up the stairs that felt endless.
