Chaeyoung's POV:
"Shall we start?" Mina unnie asked
I am extremely grateful for Mina unnie. I don't know what to feel really, it has been few weeks since she first helped me and I am telling you, she really helped me a lot. I kind of also develop a little bit of crush on her.
She's extremely smart, she's very independent even though she seemed a bit shy but she really is a strong woman. She's also very kind and just utterly perfect
"Before we start, what is that one thing that we should obtain from our patients before starting any procedures?" She asked me...well there's a lot of things to do before starting a procedure but their consent is most important consideration
"We should explain to them what is the procedure all about, what are the risks and what should they expect to happen and then obtain their consent through their signature" I smiled
"that's very good and that is really a must especially in invasive procedures" she smiled back
"the next thing to do is the skin preparation where in we should keep the skin dry for the leads to stick to the skin and be sure that the hairs are clipped or else the leads would give a false result but you probably know that so let's proceed with the placement because that is the toughy one"
She prepared 6 paper pieces "these will be our sample leads for now"
"So the first thing to do is identifying the land mark and there are two ways to do that, either through the Angle of Louis or the Clavicle Technique"
I just nod...i don't know how she will go on about this..I mean I have read regarding the angle of louis technique but I still have the hard time of locating the notch.
"yeah, I read about that before and watched few videos on locating it but I still have a hard time locating it" I said and noticed that she sat closer to me
"Well see you need to identify that first before proceeding to the placements because that will be your landmark" she said
"how bout this, I'll locate yours then you'll try mine?" sounds fun..I can't help but just gulp!! CONTAIN YOURSELF CHAEYOUNG!!!
"yeah sure I think I'll learn better like that" I hope she doesn't notice how my voice is quite shaking.
She suddenly leaned closer "So umm I need you to unbutton at least two buttons on your shirt" She says a bit like a whisper as if others would hear. I quickly unbuttoned the top two buttons of my uniform. I am feeling hot all of a sudden...I mean being close to your crush like this is a whole new experience, I mean she even asked me to unbutton my shirt, never in my whole life would have thought I would be in this position. THANK YOU WHOEVER INVENTED ECG!
"Is it ok to locate it now?" she asked very carefully. of course it is ok, I mean you're teaching me ....I just nod and smiled a bit
she reached out her index finger to my breastbone, at the center of my chest and just roamed it up "so this is your jugular notch" and then she swiped down an inch below
"and below is your sternal angle also known as the angle of Louis or the articulation or ridge between your manubrium and your sternal body" she looked at me and I swear, the world just stops. We just sat there looking at each other like it is already a minute or two. Her eyes are looking at me as if they want to tell me something, then she gulped which I heard very well bringing back to my thoughts and also hers.
She quickly withdraw her finger and cough a bit...I guess she also felt the tension
"So I guess I should try it now?" I asked...I really don't know where the confidence came from
"Yeah sure" her tone seemed serious now, she's not even grinning anymore
she unbutton the top buttons of her uniform too...she just nod at me. I quickly reached my finger to locate the sternal angle. I can't help but feel the same tension again, I shouldn't be thinking too much about this simple interaction but I just can't help it. I'm guessing she is too since she gulped a gain...then I finally touched the angle of Louis
"there I think I got it? Is it right?" I asked then looked at her eyes again and she smiled
"Yeah perfect" she grinned
I quickly removed my hand and took a deep breath. The tension is high and we only just got into the first landmark and just simple touch. Seriously Chaeyoung, stop fangirling and just quit it if you would want to pass your practical test tomorrow.
I just smiled back
"Okay, now that we have located the Sternal Angle, that is now your 2nd intercostal space, the first electrode will be placed on the right side of your sternal body on the 4th intercostal space and to locate that..."
she moved again her index finer on my Sternal Angle which brought me jitters
"from the angle of Louis, move your index to the right and now this is your 2nd intercostal space" she says as she move her index finger gently an inch to the right
"from the 2nd ICS, press down a bit and locate each intercostal till you reach the fourth...that is where you place V1 or the first electrode" she moved her index down just below my right breast
"And opposite from the this right here will be your V2 or the second electrode" she said with a slight smile as she move her finger an inch to the left
"So far do you remember it?" she asked
I nod "yes unnie"
"Ok so the next four will be easier since we located the landmarks" she adds
we spent few minutes more with her explaining the other four as she move her index finger to my left 5 inches below my armpit locating the last placement for the electrode. I never perceived any of my studies before as something sexual...I guess I discover something new everyday
"I guess we're finished" she smiled again with her gummy smile. I won't get tired of my unnie's smile ever..she's too perfect
"thank you so much Mina unnie" I grinned "I guess I owe you two now..I still haven't repayed you from the first time you helped me with my studies"
"no it's ok...I guess I'll figure something in the future that you could help me with" she just giggled and grabbed her book and continue reading.
I decided to order some jokbal to treat Mina unnie..i guess it will be here in about three minutes
"unnie I ordered Jokbal for the two of us...please enjoy, this is the least I could give right now"
"Sure Chae, I guess I'm a bit hungry too" then she closes the book
